2 stroke exhaust question

im new to 2 strokes and my brohter wants to get an exhaust system for his bike. he doesnt have enough money rigth now for a full system so would it be better to get the silencer or the head pipe first?
this is for a yz 85 btw

Leave the stock silencer on. An aftermarket doesn't do much. The pipe is what makes the difference by expanding and contracting the sound waves and flowing exhaust gases more efficently. The silencer will only put down a little more bark and feel slightly snappier.

Wait and save the money up for a full system, and rejet.

Heard that.

and you dont have to buy new....you can ge exhuast for a 80 or 85 pretty cheap...and then just rejet and youll see some good gains
