Puttin a new Clutch Assembly on My 400ex. Wondering when im tightning on the springs that hold the Pressure Plate down, what the torque is. How tight should these be. Basically if they are tightened all the way, how many counter clockwise rotations should i give them to give the plate some movement????? Last time i did this i left them too loose, and cracked the new plate on my 2nd tank......

the manuals do not give them a torque spec. i just snug them all down. i would go less than 10 ft-lbs for sure if it was me.

Counter clockwise?:eek2: Don't do that!

Tighten them in an alternating pattern, one or two cranks of the ratchet at a time, until they bottom out then just snug them up like cals said.

lol, i skipped right over the counter clockwise movement. yeah, you do not want the bolts loose in there. snug them all down.

Has anyone upgraded from the stock clutch springs to the 10% stiffer springs??

I've been considering it, but dont know if I want to do all that work to get nothing out of it. Thanks!
