heavy duty rod or crank nessecary?

Another question here for my buddy...

He's getting his motor done, high compression piston likely (not sure how high though)

but, is it nessecary in these to run a heavy duty crank or rod when upping the compression?

Very rarely do people ever get into the bottom end just because they are raising the compression. I've been running 13-1 compression for about a year with no problems on the stock bottom end.

Stock bottom end is fine, I wouldnt get an aftermarket crank unless your building a serious motor.

If you have the money I would definately go with a crank/rod set up. They do fail and anytime you have the ability to add reliability with power, it's a very good thing. I'm running a piston and some goodies without a problem too, but I will have a problem at some point, I guarrenty. Once I get the cash I'm putting one in.
