Speakers not working - HELP!

I have a set of $250 speakers and the stopped working a while ago but now Im trying to get them working again. Its something on the computer itself because I took them off and put them on my other comp and they worked. When I plug them in and go to my control panel it says no audio device. What could be wrong? :confused:

They stopped after my sister was screwing around on limewire one day.

that depends on alot. are they muted on the control panel on the pc. is the driver for them still installed; did it get uninstalled. what do you listen to music or audio with...is it muted. have you tried to wiggle the chord near the end where it meets the audio/sound card.
