Chris man,..
when ya got it together did ya check compression on it ?
.. curious ..
I was wonderin if there a big difference from "power valve"?
..nother thing,.. how did ya get it ported ..bottom .. mid ..top?

09-11-2002, 09:30 PM

Ported low mid.........compression,,,there isnt that much difference according to ESR.........and the top end is about the same.......that is why i decided not to worry about waiting for the PV.

Yeah,,,,,,the 310R stickers are in the works.......as soon as i get time to send off the $$$$,,,,,,,and i have some being made like the powdercoating stickers i have......

Thats exactly why I was wonderin if you could VERIFY this ..

"seeing is beleiving"..know what i mean ??

....the "pump gas" head would be less compresion besides

and the top end is about the same..."LOST me here"

.......that is why i decided not to worry about waiting for the PV

..Its my understanding that the "Power Valve" is a much smoother....."HIT".. this is why I chose it ..

Chris ,.. I really do not mean to "bust your b*lls" about this ,..
just curious ...cause I may do another "big bore"..always trying to learn ..things...............

thanx 2R's

that is true,,,,,,,,there is a smoother HIT.........but i like the sudden hit......so i didnt mind the non-PV cylinder. BUT ESR did say that the top end performance is the same for both cylinders,,,,,,,and he said the PV gives more bottom end,,,,along with the smoother hit,,,,,,,,and as far as i am concerned the R has plenty of bottom end......especially when ported for bottom/mid for woods/mx. I will get the compression for you today,,,,,,,but yes with the pump gas one it will be less. It also came with a dome for race gas......so i guess yours did also??

Hey Chris and 2-Rs and anyone else who may know...

I have my motor (86) in the shop right now for a bottom and top end rebuild. I still run a stock cylinder (.010 over) with low/mid port job. I run woods and hair scrambles. Anyway, I bought a cool head to put on there, along with the 21cc dome. My question is: Is the 21cc dome the best bet, or can I go with a 20cc to increase compression/performance and still run pump gas? My previous head was shaved (I don't know how much) so wouldn't that be similiar to running a 20cc dome? Any suggestions and info. would be appreciated. Thanks.

,,,,it has a new hinson 8 plate system,,,,,,and the crank is so good it is like brand new,,,so if the crank is that good,,,,,,why would all the other bearings be bad???. The R had the original bore, with many hours left....... the rings werent sharp edged, no scratches in the cylinder, hardly any notching of the clutch basket.....the clutch plates looked brand new......etc.....etc......etc....etc......

so what do you think i should do:rolleyes:
