Just purchased a 1987 Suzuki LT230S. Engine was not running when I got it. Cleaned carb and started machine. Runs great while in neutral and above 1/2 throttle. For some reason it sputters like the spark is cutting out from 0 to 1/2 throttle. Installed new plug, nothing same thing.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like a jetting issue to me. Does it have an exhaust or any kind of airbox mods done to it?

The only thing aftermarket on it is a cobra slip on muffler...

Jetting settings most likely, sounds like you need to adjust it. Start with your fuel screw and see if it helps the situation at all.

The air screw does not affect it at all. Not sure where to go with this thing... killin me

To clarify, your problem area seems to be from 1/8 throttle to 3/4 throttle...this area is controlled by the needle in your carb. I would assume the clip needs to be adjusted to compensate for the slip on. Do a search on jetting and you will fully understand the concept.

I fully understand jeting completely. I've tried everything with the carb. No luck.

ok, I would check for a vacuum leak then.
