View Full Version : reuseable oil filters or regular oil filter

i was wondering what everyone thinks about the reuseable oil filters so let me know cause i thought about gettin one

I always run them after the first few oil changes and never has a problem. Just make sure you clean the the right way by back flushing them.

now i need to know how much oil to use in each case cause i dont have an owners manual do anyone know right off hand for my 06 450r

First off, if you are going to do keep this ATV I suggest you buy a manual off eBay of from your local dealer.

Second I would not use the reusable filters since especially with a new engine you get metal debris in your engine which lies in the filter.

I have a Scotts Stainless Steel filter. I've had it installed for 6 months. It's a breeze to clean and I've seen no ill effects from using it. They cost $70.00. A little pricey but, after a few oil changes you start saving money over buying disposables. I would recommend you get one.

No offense, but of coarse you don't see any problems your machine is an 06. Which actually is the worst, because you were still breaking it in.....The filters coast $3 just put a new one in each time and then you won't have to worry.

No offense taken. I used disposables for the first 2 oil changes and went with the reusable since. Everyone has their opinion on the matter and I expressed mine. I'm happy with my choice. To each his own.

thanx for the help guys ill use both of you opinions u both have good points i will use disposibals for a while until im tired of buyin them then ill buy a reusable thanx guys
