I've had drums since I was six. My first set was a Roy. My dad bought me this westbury set a couple months ago. I cracked my symbol and my symbol stand in half not long ago. My first toms' skin is becoming wavy because I tightened it too much :o I'm learning toxicity right now, I can't read music so I just go by what I hear or from watching people on youtube do it.

im okay  do any of you guys play anything but set? like mallets or just snare? if you're really into snare, check out a piece called tornado by mitch markovitch. the tempo marking is 160 (very few who are not in drum corps have played it at 160) i played it at 180 last year (as a sophmore)... the judges shat them selves whan they heard me play it. this year im going with a 10 minute long snare solo from the drum corps individuals finals. (heres a sample of what ill be doing this year http://www.vicfirth.com/features/DCI2006_IE.html)

i can play four mallets on marimba, vibes, ect... i do just as well on congas, jembe's, and all accessory instruments. but by far, im best on the set because i combine everything i know... that and im fluent in all forms of latin, jazz, african, carribean, and rock. and yea i know, im only 16.

Yea along with set i also played marching snare and mallets.... Threw out middle school i played with the highschool, but didnt play in highschool. We were one hell of a good middle school drum team though, we qualified for state, but we couldnt go cuz we werent in highschool we just went to the competition to see how we would do.... And we killed at the middle school competitions.

My dream for along time was to be a blue devil, wish i had enough money to buy me just a marching snare there so much fun play on

Haha, Uh...............I walked into the band room one day cuz I needed a new head for my snare drum/concert snare I bought when I was in 5th grade, when I started playing. I go steel myself a marching snare head. Been on my snare in my room for about 5 years now. So I kind of have a marching snare. LoL. Marching snares and thier heads are down sooooooooooo tight, that helps give them the sound and since they are made out of kevlar(bullet proof, wut they make the vests out of too). But sophmore year either me or my friend put a whole in a head with a stick. Lucky shot.
