450r,
400ex
Yamaha
YFZ450??
which one would be the best for a first time race???

RIDING EXPERIENCE-
ive been riding my quad and jumpin stuff for about a year now and im familar with it and ill most likly be racin MX..

what type of race? MX, XC? how expierience are you on a quad? first quad you will own? need alot more info to give you a good answer.

if you plan on jsut racing to race, not getting into big, a 400ex is fine IMHO. '
i you want to get serious, a YFZ is easier to go fast on out of teh box, once again IMO. For XC would take the 450r.

I would say the Honda 450R, but that's just because i'm a big Honda fan... You should probably go to the dealerships and see if they'll let you ride them and you can see which ever one you like the best.

but ya im really leanin toward the YFZ450 but im not to sure has anyone had one of either the YFZ or 450r and had any problems with it (that werent cause by u or the owner) like factory problems??

04 yfz- battery kept dying, only problem out of it.

05 450r- no problems as of yet.

Just so you know this use to be a honda site. Its pretty biased to honda here.

I love honda, and the 450r turned into one of my favorite quads the first time I rode one. The r handles good, has good suspension seems like, has good power,but all the 450s do, and its a honda, so it has to be reliable.

yea ive had that for like 3 years or w/e since ive been here wene no one basically had anything but honda, if i can figure out how to change it ill add or fords to the end of it

I have both an 05' yfz and an 06' Honda.The yfz is gone.. great machine WHEN something isn't wrong!!!! knock on wood the honda made it through this year, no problems.. mx style riding. I love the honda. I.M.O. just feel more comfortable on it. Everyone I know has had nothing but problems with the yamaha. Once again,just my opinion...

I dont notice a difference in power between the 450r and yfz. But they are very different. Which one u will like better depends on ur riding style and preference.
