Well, quad does not want to start. It is about 50 today, and it will not start. I drained the carb and even recharged the battery. A couple of times, it would start, run 2 seconds, and than stall. I checked everything, it cranks, but won't start. I'm kind of worried because I checked my oil and it was super over filled, but I have no clue how, it never was, and I know for a fact I didn't put more oil in. I went to the manual and tried all the "my quad won't start symptoms" Just 3 days ago, it was starting right up and was able to ride. Maybe from all the starting I fouled a plug? I'm lost right now:(

try to start it without the filter.. see if you are getting gas.. and check you plug to see if you have spark..

I'm getting gas. I want to check to see if I'm getting spark, but my dad is away for the week for work, with all his tools. The only thing I have now are a phillips, flathead, and the sockets to take off my battery. I really don't want to rip off my front plastics but if I have to I will. It fired once and ran for 2 seconds without the filter, than stopped. So right now I really want to lean towards fouled plug. Anybody that sees this thread chime in with info, nothing sounds too stupid to try right now, all is appreciated.

You can just pull the cap off your plug, and put any plug in it and see if you are gettting spark.

Hmmm, I'm gonna go rip off my leaf blower plug haha. No harm in trying, thank you.

Also, maybe a tired starter motor?

I actually got the plug out, it was very frustrating, but I'm pretty sure I found my problem. I'm pretty sure this is flooded.

Flooded usually shows a wet plug, that one just looks black... So too much gas, but if it's not running and getting gas it's not surprising.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have something in your carb? or maybe it needs to be cleaned. Possible water in your tank due to the weather changes?

And I gotta ask, your red kill switch is in the right postion right? Gas is on?

Hahahaha, thank you looking out for the n00b, and yes, red switch is in the run position. I did as the manual said if its flooded, turn it off and crank for 5 seconds, and made sure I turned it back on. Gas is on, and tomorrow I'll drain the tank just for the added insurance. I just went uptown and got 2 fresh plugs so I'll pop one in tomorrow.

I've never pulled the carb, is there any good write ups on here?

It is the original plug, so been in there since early 2004. I guess I should've thought more about that, the plug can't last forever. Haha.

come to think about it, this happend to me back in late 04 3 months after i got the bike and it would start but not run. Ended up getting a plug from a guy that had a used spear and fired right up.

The only difference was that it was a new plug from the night befores tune up.

I forgot to mention, once I got it out, I put the boot on it and cranked it, and a spark didn't even come out. Could this from it be from it being sooted from running rich?

looks like all it is, is a toasted plug.
