If i were to run a 11.1 piston at .80 over, how much of a gain would I see vs. 11.1 in a standard bore? Is it worth the money to get it bored? also what kind of piston do you all recommend? wieseco or JE?
thanks

YOu'll see some difference but probably not too much I wouldn't think...you need to get a new cam with it too,,if you don't get a cam then I wouldn't bother putting a new piston in it...JE piston's are what most of us out here use..:macho

I have a XR 400 cam in it now, not a whole lot of diff. from the stock. What would be a good Drop in cam?

09-10-2002, 01:47 PM
I'd just leave the cam in there and do the 80 over bore,,you'll like the power increase..cam and pistons normally should be swapped out together to get the full picture..

TC makes the best cam out there HANDS DOWN. And Wiseco pistons are 10X's better then that JE crap. It is made of better materials. Go with a TC cam, exhaust, and 80 over, and that thing will outrun and 440 kit out there. Mine is bored 120 over (as far as u can go with the stock cylinder) which makes it a 425, and i can outrun any 440 kit. ANd its Totally reliable!!

JE crap?... <lol / sigh>

Didn't take this thread long to spiral into the toilet.. Can't wait to see Rico's responce in the morning to this one...

je is the best piston... i was told its lighter then the wiseco so it will rev faster and something about a oil ring is bigger and it will help ur engine live longer...

tc racing uses regrind cams leo... i had to send my stock cam back for a core charge...

I will have to say the best drop in's would have to be the TC mx grind and the HRC
With the hotcams stage 2 right behind
Also the Tc uses almost the smae grind as the webcams but regrinds it so it works even better .
Well Hope I helped .
Kris
PS
Wiseco and JE are made by the same company now wiseco bought them out , I've heard goodand bad about both of these
They even out to be the same .
Just dont go too high on compression

Yeah I think JE`s are also better. Wiseco doesn`t suck though. I know if I get the Kit TC tells me to, I will be running a Wiseco.

oh ok lol...you got em all around or did you send your stock rear shock to them to get it revalved? how much were they if you dont mind me asking? later...

Dave400ex
09-11-2002, 07:05 PM
I had my Rear Revalved. They seem ot be working well and I haven`t had to really adjust them at all. They are the best things I have ever bought for a Quad. The Fronts were $740 and the Rear was $315.

i have the JE 416 piston kit and i like it alot some people may not like them because they didnt let it harden by heating the piston up and letting it cool down several times im happy with it and i also put in a XR 400 cam and lits of other stuff the only bad thing is that it keeps wanting to flip over backwards when i get on it and about an hour a go i ate some dirt due to that problem:D

kicken250x
09-12-2002, 03:10 PM
thats not as bad as i thought it would be i was thinking more along the lines of about 850 bucks for the front i think i might have to get some when i get my new bike. i might end up getting one with Axis shocks on it which do yall consider to be better? i know the Axis shocks cost like $1000 for front and abot that for the rear but i know price doesnt always equal quality. so which do yall think are better and why? thanks

You getting a new 400ex? I got mine from Full Throttle MX. Check them out. I really like the Elka`s, but Axis are also nice. It is really your choice because you can`t go wrong with Elka, Axis, PEP or TCS.

kicken250x
09-12-2002, 05:07 PM
it not new, its a '99. it has leager's +2 arms, axcaiber(sp?) +2+2 axle, 440 kit, holeshots ya know the works its 3800 i thought that was pretty cheap for a full MX set up. the dude is in my drafting class at school and i know how he rides(not verry hard or good) and i know it is in pretty good condition, only 1 crack where the shock tower is. so i thought it would be a prety good deal i gotta sale mine first tho:( .

Dave400ex
09-12-2002, 06:55 PM
Sounds like a Good Deal. All you will need is some Shocks and I would send the Frame out and have it Gusseted and Powdercoated.

its either gonna be the 440 or a banshee that is in pices in VA beach i want the 440 but i love the snappy powerband and speed of a banshee ive wanted one ever since i rode my cuzes last year so idk...
