stock swing arm modifacation

Ive been looking at aftermarket swing arms for a while now and i like how the rear is open so you could greese the carrier. I have a lsr carrier and was wondering if i would cut out an oval in the swing arm it it will make it weak. Im working on polishing it right now. Did anyone do anything like this or something simliar?

any time you cut it, you invariably will weaken it, but if you pick a good spot, you should be fine. i know many people have installed zerk fittings to grease the carrier or cut holes to reach an existing zerk on a carrier and that seems to work fine.
