I have got the 400 at my house. It looks like everything is in the right place. You put it in gear and it stays in gear when you pull the clutch. WHAT would cause it!!!!

well see how far the cable is pulling.. my friend had the same problem but it was his cable that was freying so it messed with his clutch action.. also.. if you did it yourself.. you could have either not put the engagement mechanism on right or you put the last plate on wrong.. just a couple things to think about..

New clutch, cable is in good shape, and the pulley is hooked in the preasure plate , the last fiber is turn in the other groove
The clutch feels like it is pulling out all the way but no sign of the clutch releasing

well if no ones got a better idea take the side cover off and see how the clutch moves and if that doesn't help consult manual, local mechanic, or buddy who can help

What kind of shape is the clutch basket in? I don't think its that, I'm guessing its the way you put it back together:ermm:
