well I just ended my 3rd year of racing XC on my 04 trx450r. How competive are the 04's to the 06's, b/c my quad has taken a beating and I am sick of contant problems. I am debating if I should rebuld the motor, raplace all bearing and ball joints, or just buy my buddies 06 for 4200. Is it worth it????

from what ive heard the 06/07's are much faster than the 04/05s, BUT save your $4200 and put it into your engine and other things that need fixing up because i know you can pump more power of an 04/05 with aftermarket to make it faster than the 06/07's

I have heard of brand new 05 otd for that price as left overs, you might look around,

the problem with the 06/07 is the slow starting electric start for XC and the spindle design causes more bumpsteer

Stock for stock the 06 is faster, but I doubt you have a stock quad. Once you start modding it could go either way. I say keep what you got and just rebuild it. That way you have a completely fresh quad and you can keep whatever you still have on it.
