glowing header on 450r

what does it mean when the header on a quad glows an orange color? is this normal that it is this hot or no? any information is appreciated.

i dont think your headpipe is suppose to glow.. you might be running lean.. has your quad been jetted right?

it was rejetted for the HMF that i have on it yes. but it still crackles and pops on deceleration. do i need to rejet it?

If it's still popping on decel you may still be a little lean. All the headers on my quads glow at night when riding slow or idling.

turn up/out you idle mixture screw 1/4 turn til that backfire goes away..

my front header pipe was glowing red cherry hot.i called hmf and they said it waas normal.i knew that couldn't be right,so went i slow jet up bigger.problem was solved.it also gave me more out of the hole accel.if it is glowing hot your either too lean,or too rich.if u were to rich it would be dumping fuel and u will be haveing runabilty problems.

From your description it sounds as though you may be running a little lean. Try going up a bit on the main.

my header would only be red hot at an idle.i went up with the slow jet 1 jet size.now it's awesome.my main jet is a 195
