I just had a hotcams stage 2 installed and i swear this thing is running much hotter. I fired up at night right outside the dealship and the header was glowing...now, i 've never noticed if it glowed before (never ran at night) but in the day time, it sure seems like more heat coming off the pipe. The jetting was fine before the cam and i didn't change any jets yet...what do you guys think? change a jet? I should pull the plug and check that too. thanks

check the plug.. dont worry about jet when you cam.. it does change anything but the amount air/fuel that goes in and out.. bigger space same mixture... are you riding slow when its glowing.. idle is hotter then riding..

yeah, i was just at idle...i didn't think i'd need to rejet but i'll probably double check the plug just to make sure.

you might want to change your pilot screw to a bigger one..

A cam makes your engine flow more fuel&air through by increasing lift&duration. Sometimes you do need to rejet for a cam.

your air/fuel mixture will still be the same.. when you put a new airfilter that adds more air(then you jet).. my jets are the same as before I put my cam in.. I raised up my jets from 160 to 165 and I was running rich..

Kaleigh, if you change cams, and it holds you valves open longer, or shorter, than thats changing airflow, any time you change the airflow you need to rejet.

Well then it was a very mild cam....

A cam changes airflow very much!!!

A glowing headpipe is not normal at all, unless its titanium in which case they almost always glow because the wall thickness of the tubing is very thin. Try messing with your mixture screw.
