I have made the descision to put kibblewhite s.s. valves, and an hrc cam for my 2006 450r. I need to know how effective it would be to purchase an aftermarket piston to replace the stock one?

Another question is: what material is the stock piston made of?

Would I benefit from a lighterweight piston, or is the stock piston good enough?

Please provide any input that you can spare, thanks alot for the help.

Are you just doing a rebuild or are you looking for a higher comp. piston? The stocker should be fine but there are cheaper ones from companies such as JE, Wiseco and others.

many of the aftermarket ones will be a lot more durable. some of their skirts wont' be so small so the piston doesn't wobble as bad in the cylinder, making it last longer.
