i don't really think they help all that much but they certainely give the bike a better look.

Shrouds on a 400 are really just for looks. They are supposed to route more air to the oil cooler but I seriously doubt they make much of a difference in oil temps. I personally would not have a 400 w/o OMF shrouds. They are the OG ones, and look 100% better than any of the knock offs they sell on ebay.

I bought mine off ebay and i think they look better than most. They are MMF shrouds

This in not my bike just a pic from the advertising of the shrouds.

I've got a set on my 400ex. I also have a oil temperature gauge and I saw a 30 degree drop in my oil temperature after installing them. The improved look and added piece of mind made them worth it. I paid less than $50.00 and they are made of laser etched 18 guage steel with a color matching black powder coat appied. I posted a couple pictures of mine installed. Here's the web site. http://www.metalmasterfabrication.com/400_ex.htm

Here's a front view. Installation was a breeze. No cutting or modifacation required to the quad. Worth it in my opinion. :D

they do help. Just not enough to go buy $100+ ones. mine after shipping were $75.

We always ran Tinners scoops. They were around $45 and the old school look was much better IMO then the OMF.

You could deffinatley feel more heat from the engine as the air was being directed over the engine. Nice temp drop hornetgod13, not sure if anyone has ever recoded that on here.

yea.. if you want scoops for function.. dont buy anything expensive unless you really want that look.. they do help.. nothing if you are running your machine allday.. doesnt help if you are just putting around.. pushes mor air over the fins and oil cooler..

oh and they look awesome..

TINNER'S!!!!! In my opinion they look good and are a cinch to install with great fit and finish. Like Pappy said, the old school look rocks.

I personally wouldn't go with anything else besides Tinners scoops. I tried the knockoff ebay ones, and they broke before I even had the chance to use them:rolleyes: Plus actually I even think they were more.

OMF are the best looking ones IMO, they actually look like they are supposed to be OEM:)

They kinda flow w/ the lines of the bike, and don't look like gaudy and square like all the others.

some say thay do nothing and others say they help keep it cool. I say they do help, really anything to keep the EX running cool is worth it. they look cool to. even if they drop a couple degrees it still helps. i wouldn't pay much for a set like $50 or less. i know where you can get a set like mine for $35CDN hint hint;)

BigFish

Thats the original one industries kit. I'm pretty sure they quit making them. I don't like graphic kits and IMO that was the best looking kit ever made for the 400;)

My scoops will hold up and won't break the pocket book.

i wouldn't pay over 50 dollars for a set if you had the tools and how to i'd just build a set i did it and they worked and looked great i don't think they made much of a heat difference but i don't have any ways of teling other then just feeling it with my legs
