You really can't go wrong with any of em. Whatever one you feel more comfy on.. The z,dvx, and kawi are all the same and have a lil more power than the ex.

i would take a Z i like zuki and i like liquid cooling ;)

i wish honda just had a liquid cooled 400ex WITHOUT 450r plastics

they may have a little more power but overall a 400ex is a better bike. that power isue could be taken care of with even an airfilter. its easy to make an ex as fast as the other 400s

even though the 400ex is slower and air cooled, if it had better front shocks i think it would blow away a z400 hands down, imo. it handles better and its a honda. i kno ppl wgo beat on there ex's for years and they always run

the z400,kfx400, and dvx400 are all the same bike(minus the dvxs plastic) i had an 03 z400 for a year but sold it because it started having problems and i wanted more power. if i had to chose again i would get a 400ex just to see what its like compared to my z.

the newer z400s are great bikes tho, only lacking a little low end that an air filter takes care of. it is so close in performance with a 400ex. go with what fits your price range and color preference pretty much...

duh.:D I can't say because I have an obsession with my Z. I have ridden 400ex and it's a great bike, but I still prefer the Z.

well I have a 2000 406ex and my friend has both a 2001 400ex and 2005 z400.i've rode his z and it is just like the ex only its a tiny bit more powerful and has less low end power than the ex.my friend actually feels more comfortable on his ex when jumping because of the ergonomics on it and the ex has a lower stance than the z. its all about personnel preference.if you can go ride or sit on both machines at a local dealership and see which one you feel more comfortable on, because the engines are just a tiny bit different.

o and if you buy used make sure the z/dvx/kfx is not a 03 because they are known to crack frames after extensive jumping.

Although those are all very excellent points, I believe that you are comparing two stock quads? As you can tell mine is far from stock. I just think that there is more to offer after market to make the Z a much better machine. I think there is more to offer for Z's than 400ex's? So, I guess it all comes down to rider preference.

Both quad are awesome and will treat you well if you maintain them. I have a 2005 400ex and my cousin whiteZrider on here has a 03' z400. Before I got my 400ex I wanted a kfx 400 more than anything. But
I got an offer for the 400ex that I just couldn't pass up. Now when I ride my cousin's z400 I love the smooth feeling of it when you just slowly acellerate. I also love the big soft comfy seat. But when i ride mine and I slowly hit the gas the power comes on more oldschool and has the powerful grunt sound from the engine. I like my quad for jumping and turning better because it sits at a lower stance and well i guess since I've been riding it longer its easier for me to jump.. When my cousin rides my quad he says is has alot of tourque.

I like the 400ex overall, to me it handles better and seems to be a very dependable atv.

:eek2: Crap now i have to go to the bathroom, i just blew my load. J/K.. bad***** quad man. And for everyone else, sure the ex has almost the same power as a STOCK Z. Start modding them both (which EVERYONE does sooner or later) and that is when the z shines. My z will easily run with 450's in a drag and will flat out own them in the woods. I have yet to see a ex run as fast. I'm not saying that ex suck, they are a great beginner quad. I'm just saying in MY OPINION the z is by far a better machine, newer technology, more aftermarket support. I hate to say it but the ex's are dieing out.

the ex's are far from diein out, ppl love em. there is just as much aftermarket stuff you can do the ex's as z's. btw you have an awsum loookin z

if i was keeping a quad stock and just riding it day after day, i would take the EX but if i was modding it, i would take the Z...and yeah i like the old 400Ex plastic better then the 450R look
