I here a lot of people saying to go to a 42 pilot jet to solve whatever problem your having with start up. whats the stock jet in a new 400, is the 42 leaner or fatter?

Stock jet in a new 400ex is 38. And the 42 is richer(fatter) then the 38. Solves cold starting problems.
