with a 14 tooth front sprocket for 400ex. how much of a gain does it give to your bottom end? and how much of a loss to top end? is it worth gettin?

they are great for woods/tight trails, you will lose around 5mph on the top end. for $25 its a good upgrade IMO

I've heard nothing but good when somebody does this mod to there 99-04 400ex. Works well in the dunes also. If your not top speed 5th gear riding all the time then its a good upgrade.

I just put a 14t sprocket on last night. I like it is a lot easier to bring the front end up. I’m going on some trails tmrw, so we will see how it does. Also look at rocky mountain atv for one. I ordered their free catalog and they sent me a $10 gift certificate. I then used that towards the sprocket and it ended up being $4.99 shipped. Cant beat that..

im puttin a 416 kit and a stage 2 cam and thinking about a 14 tooth sprocket but im worried that it will be too nuch bottom end

lol theres never to much bottom end!:D its just that you loose a bit of top end. but if your not a person that is goin in 5th all the time its an awesome upgrade. right guys?

How often are you 5th gear wide open? You will not notice losing any up top but it will rocket out of tight corners with it.

Exactly. It's one of the best and cheapest mods for the 400EX.

so stock sprocket for 400ex is 15 tooth? i want 2 buy smaller 1 but i dont want 2 loose much top end. for the ppl who HAVE the 14 tooth is the gains in bottom end worth loosin a bit of top?

It's definately worth it unless you plan on riding in 5th gear topped out a lot, which most people don't ride all day long in 5th gear.
