I've had some Scott Grip Glue and it just doesn't last long enough.

So what do you guys use to keep your grips from slipping?

I tried some spray paint but haven't ridden that quad yet but they're tight. I tried some Gorilla Glue on one grip on another quad, and again, haven't ridden that yet.

Between the two of them, I liked the paint better. Easier to slip on but I don't want to use that on my Tag T2 bars.

Just curious as to what's working for you.

Thanks, Kyle

There is a yellow weather striping glue that is used on cars that works really well. You can also go to your dealership and they can run wire around the grips to hold them. Or you can buy the wire and tool and do it yourself:D

I use wire ties. Glue never worked for me.

The honda grip glue works great but for about the same price you can pick up a tube of 3M Weatherstrip adhesive. It's basically the same formula as the grip glue and it's much cheaper. You can get a huge tube of it for the price of a small tube of grip glue. If you want added insurance use the safety wire with it and your grips won't move.

ODI grips:D

No more glue, no more wire, no more pain in the as$.

Slide them on, tighten the allen screws, and they're on....and WON'T move

use BLACK weather stripping adhesive. the yellow works but isnt' quite as strong. the black holds alot better for me. i also run grip wire around them and i haven't had a grip slip since. give atleast 24 hours for glue to set up and don't use too much. 48 hours is preferable!

I use Gorilla Glue. You can get if for about $4 at Wal-mart or any hardware store. Works really well.

I just use the cheap off brand "Grip Glue" and it works good. No sign of breaking loose after 3 years.

Like "northwest Texas" stated in the first post, I also use Scott's Grip Glue and it does not hold at all. Even from day one, after riding for just a short time my grips start to turn. It wouldn't be a big deal except for I run a 50/50 half-waffle grip so placement is important. I am going to try that weatherstripping stuff.

Question ... does anyone else use Pro Taper grips? As I mentioned above, I use their Medium compound 50/50 grips and they are NOT holding up well at all. I have only had them on for about six months are they are wearing out and starting to rip thru and crack a little. Anyone else have this experience? Any suggestions on what to replace them with? Sorry, don't mean to jack the thread.

I use grip glue and wire.

I clean the end of the bars with some carb cleaner or anything else that will remove grease, oils etc. Then I take some 400 or 600 grit sandpaper and rough up the bar a little bit then glue the grips on once is clean and dry. Then wire them.

I'd also like to know what grips you guys like. I've used the Pro Grip 796's and they're fair, no real complaints but nothing to brag about.

I'll let you guys know how the Gorilla Glue works. I used that on my bro-in-laws Z400 and we'll see how they hold up.

Here's a pic of the Pro Grips I've been using.

Gorilla Glue will work, dont worry. lol. I use that on mine. I also used that stuff pro taper makes that is totally adhesive with in like 30 seconds, but i ruined a brand new pair of grips b/c it stuck to the bar in about 2 seconds  . So i just gorilla glue em, or the Renthal glue works the best. be sure to safety wire them to.

Dont use glue! Even if it sticks, it eventually dissovle.

Spray WD40 inside the grip and on the handlebars, then slide the grips on and let them dry for about an hour, this is actually somewhat eating the rubber and sealing it to the bars. After it dries put about three wires around it as shown in a previous picture. Be sure to hammer the ends of the wire into the grip so they dont poke your hands.

This works better than anything, i had to change grips between motos once, i did this and the grips were solid by the time i had to race again.

Forget glue. Just get the Moose or ODI locking grips and you'll never think about glue ever again.
