I'd like to get around $90, (It's practically New) but shoot some offers out, I bought it off a friend who didn't like wah, and now I'm fading away from wah myself and it just sits around... The battery cover in the back is broke though, so I have it taped on, but it does not effect the pedals performance at all.

Here's a few pics:

pic didnt work dude.

i forgot to mention above about my guitar.
it is a special one. when you buy a schecter c-1 now it has dot enlays and does not have the pearl around the black on the body. mine has pearl around the body and diamond shaped enlays on the neck.

here is a c-1
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/3919/c1whtxq4.jpg

mine is just like this one below, only it has diamond enlays on it; and my tuner knobs are painted blacked to match the body.

i plain to buy something like one of the two at the bottom..if the jackson, black or blue in color i dont like red.

Well, I've been playing since I was about seven years old. I just turned 41. I've probably owned about 500 guitars in that time, and just as many amps. The above pictures are what I have now, plus a few more amps.

11-02-2006, 08:45 PM
nice. ive been at it for about 12 to 13 years; but ive played alot more in the last 3-4 years. i wish i would have gotten rid of my jackson guitar and marshall amp. seeing your pics reminds me how much. im 24 and ive had about 6 guitars, and 4 amps.
i had a jackson ps2, and a marshall amp...dont remember model number...it only had a 10 in it. whatever i buy next, im going bigger and nicer.

Here are a few of what I have.

Gibson Firebird: (Ignore the Canadian flag. We were opening for Mountain and their drummer is canadian and hangs it.)

As far as guitars go, it pretty much depends on what style of music you like, or want to play. There are a ton of fine guitars made these days. Strats are great guitars, and have their own sound. Many of the top guitarists played Strats (Hendrix, Blackmore, Vaughn, Robert Cray, ect.....)

I would say before laying out a ton of dough on another guitar, make sure you want to stick with it, and keep the Strat for now.

As far as my favorite amp, it depends on what sound I want at the time. If I'm looking for a heavy sound, I plug into the Mesa Boogie, or my Peavey JSX. If I want more of a classic rock sound, I plug into the Marshalls. If I want a clean sound, it's hard to beat the Fender Deluxe Reverb reissue.

11-03-2006, 11:57 AM
yes i agree with what he said ^ ^
i didnt mention this earlier but i dont like fender at all.
so as you asked about a step up from a strat; there are so many its crazy. i suggest you go and play some various brands. the first thing you need to do is determine what pickup configuration you want... 1 humber, and 2 single coil, ......or 2 humbuckers....

know what i mean vern..lol; anyone see the ernest movies on during halloween....

My daughter(12) started playing about two years ago, taking weekly lessons. Shes got a few already, but still isnt sure where she wants to go with it, so we haven't spent a whole bunch of money yet. But shes got a Marshall 12 string acoustic, a Parkwood SS acoustic, a Takamine NS 3/4 acoustic(this was her first, and makes a good daytripper), and a '79 fender strat with a crappy little Peavy amp, and a digi tech pedal box(dont know much about it). But she is starting to really like Lynard, and I'm hoping she starts to appreciate more classic rock:D

I've been playing for about 13 years now. I've owned several different guitars but my guitar of choice is about any high end ESP/LTD. I've owned several Gibson LP's and SG's but i could never get comfortable playing them and i don't think highly of they're pickups. For bluesy/southern rock/country they're fine but for heavy metal/hard rock they're are better suited pickups...about any active EMG...with an EMG 81 & 60 set up being my favorites, a Seymore Duncan '59 and JB is a good set up as well. So many people look at merely the name that's on the guitar rather than the materials it's made from. I have a ESP/LTD MH400NT with an EMG 81 and an EMG 60 at the bridge and put most low end Les Pauls and SG's to shame for sound. It's a well crafted guitar as well, set neck, Grover tuners, Earvana nut, EMG pick ups, Mahogany body with a quilted Maple top....alot of high end features for a lower price. I know what you all will say...look at alot of the top stars that play Gibson/Fender products....this is true...but look at they're signature line of guitars and you see that most change the pick ups in them. It's all good though, go ahead and spend the money for a goood one though, don't skimp because this one is cheaper....you'll kick yourself in the *** later down the road!!!!!

i've only been playing for about a half a year, but i've really been playing alot and im gradually getting better. im into classic rock(80's mostly like GNR, Metallica, other 80's big names) and starting to like this faster hard rock of today. but anyways my brother has a Schecter(sp?) Diamond series electric, and a 15 watt Crate amp.. he doesnt play it much, and i play it pretty much every day for an hour or 2 so you could almost say it was mine.

I play as good as any lepar out there:D I dont even try any more. I just enjoy listening to my daughter play. My advice is let the teacher teach, pay the bill and sit back at the camp fire and enjoy the results;)
Kayla likes to get her lessons on the acustic, and practices her lessons on both acustic and electric. Shes not really into the electric much because she likes the sounds from her SS acustic.

I teach myself how to play guitar and I'm liking the results. I'd never go to a teacher. I go to powertabs.net and get songs and practice them and move up to more challenging pieces. Just stick with it and you can teach yourself well.

Today I got finger taping or wutever its called down, I was like sweet.

Electric is easier, don't have to push hard with your left hand or stum as hard with your right. Volume does all that.

This time i'm really trying to learn and I play about 30-45 mins a day for the last 3 weeks or so.
I bought a book "Electric Guitar Primer" http://www.cvls.com/products/EGP.html that came with a CD which ties in with the lessons in the book .

My question is, Is it worth going to take lessons? One of the guys that works at the music store teaches guitar and he charges $80 a month, 1 lesson per week, 1 hour each lesson.

Pappy

Just a heads up. There are a lot of people that give lessons on YouTube. I have found quite a few good pointers on there.

I had a few lessons when I was younger, but did not stick with it. IMO the best thing about lessons, is the regimented structure. The teacher is expecting you to learn the stuff, and you better know it by next week. Without lessons you are on your own and just fiddling around.

$80 a month sound worth it to me. As long as you don't have to commit to a year. I would give it a shot for one or two months. You will always learn something. I think you will learn faster if you have a teacher.

If you are really serious about it, go for some lessons. If you just want to dink around, spend the money on books, etc.

How I taught myself, playin for like 4 months straight now. Go to www.powertabs.net, search a band and a song you like, get the tabs(music notes) for it.

Real easy to understand.

Notes on the Bottom line are the low strings, top line is high string

0 is Open, play with your finger on nothing

1 is first fret

2 is 2nd fret

14 is 14th fret

Really easy, start out with some easy songs then work up harder, and you'll get good with movin your fingers and become a real good player.

This is just wut I do and wut I think is a good/free way.

And then when your buddies are around and have a guitar you can play some sweet songs.

I have a SX Vintage Series (basically a Fender Strat knock-off, but works great), I also have a SX Jumbo Bass (i've been player bass for like 3 years, just started guitar last month).

The guitar was originally my brothers, he gave it to me because he got a Fender. Pretty cool, were both lefties

Well its been a month or two since ive posted in this thread and ive been taking lessons from a teacher ( 1/2 hr a week) for about a month now.
Putting forth a honest effort to learn playing a guitar is MUCH harder than I thought it would be! Its very time consuming for sure.
I've had a few times practicing here at the house when ive learned something new and ive been all thumbs up:D and other times I get so frustated want to throw the damn thing through the window.

My old 2nd hand fender strat was worse off than I thought when I bought it used a few years ago for $100, really worn frets so I read reviews and bought an Squire 51. Good guitar for $99 bucks. Needed a little work to get it right which I enjoyed doing anyway but well worth it.
Also got me a Roland Microcube, its a blast to play through, lots of different sounds. Not made for loud volume but great for low volume, bedroom practice stuff.
Ill get a better guitar and amp when its time to do so.
Also, thanks to those of you which replied about my guitar teacher question.

SGA, I know how you feel, I tried to start on my brothers guitar along time ago, I couldn't get it right and I would get so frustrated. So I bought a bass, three years later I'm playing guitar and I'm a ton better than I ever was, the second I picked it up I understood it. I suggest you start on a bass. A bass guitar will teach you alot, it's much easier to play than a guitar.
