Before I go too far I'll mention that I'm doing something abnormal here, so please don't flame me as I have my reasons. Here goes I'm starting a hybrid build using a 300EX frame (you can find my project thread in the under 350cc section). As mentioned in the thread I plan on using a CBR600F4i motor. I have no problems modifying the frame, but don't want to stretch it. If that can't be done I'll consider using a CRF450, CR500, or another powerful Honda motor. I'm just wondering if anyone on here has tried a hybrid 300? Any pics to see what I'm getting into here? This is mainly just to see what kind of clearances I have before buying a motor and finding out it won't fit without stretching the frame. Also take into consideration that by stretching I don't mean modifying the front bracing. I'm fine with that. Thanks and please try not to flame me too much for using a 300 frame.

Here is a guy who put a FZR600 engine into a 660 Raptor.

You will find many pictures here:

I also know a guy who put the FZR600 engine into a Banshee frame.

It's not the frame i see as the problem but the motor. What are you planning on doing with this machine with a 600cc streetbike engine?? Anyways it would be neat if it worked but i can you having alot of problems riding it with weight and what not. If you were set on building something like that it would make more sense to use a raptor chassis, as stated above, something that is made for an engine that size. The 300 frame is just so small, if you were to doing anything with it, i think a 250F motor would be sweet. However it all depends on what you want to use it for, a 250F isn't gonna put out huge HP, but singnificantly more than your 300 will. I doubt you could even fit a 450F let alone a 600 motor in that frame, there is alot of customizing just to get, at least a honda, 450, into a 400ex frame, which is significantly bigger. Anyways good luck with your project, hope it works out with whatever you decide to build....

KingpinsEx is right. The Raptor or the Banshee with the FZR600 is much to heavy for riding it on a MX track. Also the center of gravity is not the best. Jumping tables is unpossible. My Banshee-buddy built his ride to smoke other cars or streetbikes. Thatīs the only thing you can do with a streetbike engine in a ATV frame.

I'm pretty much just doing the build up for hooby riding (mostly road and field riding, but some trailing. I don't see the weight being a problem though as the CBR motor weighs in at around 100 lbs. I want a pretty fast quad though. Most of my drive time has been on a Raptor with a pipe, jetted, and lower gearing. I also drove a bored and stroked 400ex. I'm wanting something that I know will hang with anything around here. I don't really jump much though.

sounds like this should be a cool quad if it works i'd suggest lots of gussets in the frame stronger welds and really long a arms and a real long swingarm

Hopefully it will be if I can figure out which motor to get. I may end up just going with a 250r motor if I have too. I know that small 2 stroke will fit.

You can buy the Extreme 950 SM from Eicker Racing. This ATV uses the KTM V2 LC8 engine. Itīs very fast and designed for streetriding.

F'n A. I would love to have one, but I wouldn't be able to trail it at all. Plus it's way out of my price range.
