I used to race Motocross but I tore both ACLs so I decided I needed a sport quad to play around on...I found a 05' kfx400 with only 2 tanks of gas ran through it and their asking 4100 for it...is this a good deal or not.......also are these fourwheelers good in mud/trails....pros and cons

thanks a million!

theyre great in trails. very easy to ride and get through alot of tough spots. as for the 05 models, make sure they have had the coolant recall taken care of. if your not familiar with that do a search and you can find tons of detailed info on what to do and how to check it out. 4100 isnt a really bad price but if your only looking to ride trails casually you can get an 04 for way less. plus you can get a Z with a lot of nice mods for less than 4100. but let us know exactly how serious your going to be riding it and we can see if there are other used Z's that would be good for your purpose.

you could probably find a better deal than 4100...if you could talk him down on the price that would be better of course, but there are modded quads going to way less with some woods tires and nerfs and such...check out the classifieds and you can see many different choices. a major plus to the 05 is that its practically brand new...but if it hasnt had the recall done, you may want to forget about it.

Even if the recall hasnt been done it should be done free at the dealer. Well, other than the oil and coolant. But a good dealer would throw it in for free also.

what i mean is that the damage may have already been done. people with relatively new Z's have had the corrosion happen fairly quickly. better safe than sorry.

the recall has been taken care of.....we are trying to go for like 3500-3800 hopefully...he said he had the recall taken care of right when they had told him about it .....going to go look at it thursday

one last question...can you take the baffle out of the kfx400..or is their any way to make them not as quiet

yes im pretty sure people remove the spark arrestor...some people remove the endcap all together. if you could pick that up for 3500 that would be a good price.
