Hey, does any one have or like old muscle cars. I'm 17 and I have a 1973 plymouth road runner with a 400 ci big block. My dad has a 1973 dodge charger SE that hes turning into a prostreet car.

That's awesome man. I'm 27 and own a 1970 Dodge Charger 500. It has the 383 Magnum, Torque-Flite 727 trans, 8 3/4 rear-end. I purchased the car in 1998 and am the second owner. It is mostly a show car/cruiser and only gets driven on nice days. It is pretty much all stock, except for a few small things like Flowmaster exhaust, K & N air filter, Accel plug wires, Mopar Performance electronic ignition, and a few other minor things. it has metallic gold paint with original black vinyl top and mostly original black bucket seat interior. The old Mopars are definitely awesome. I also used to have a 68 Firebird but it got totaled. I need to post up some pics of em.

a porsche is in no way a muscle car. we are talking real AMERICAN muscle here, no sports cars here.

honda400ex68b- that huffer on there just for looks or does it complete a blower set-up?

not a porsche. that "huffer" your are referring to is just the air filter, K&N filter. it does have a blower under it. i will post a pic of it. what do you mean " that huffer" ? just curious.

My dad's got a 71' challenger, and a 70' charger... Neither are nothing special, but were building up a 71' challenger se and are eventually going to make his charger a ton better.

Heres my dad's challenger though.. I can get you pictures of other stuff if you want from different carshows i've been to, mainly Chargers,Challengers, Daytona Chargers and such, even the new Challenger that should be coming out. Just lemme know.

was not calling your car a porsche. talking about Freakystone.

And Huffer is a term used by many car guys. it scoops air in forcing more air into the carb on top of the blower. some refer to it as allowing the car to take "deep breaths", aka Huff like the three little pigs huff and puff lol. Why type of supercharger you have on there? mounted on a small blockor a big block?

power does not equate to muscle. Most "muscle" cars are 60's and 70's american cars. some "new age mucle" includes the F-body camaros, the fox body mustang, and some others. i personally dont consider any european car as a muscle car, but thats just me. i do have a feeling that if you go to a "muscle car" forum and call your porsche a muscle car, most people on there will say the same thing i did.

nice. 350? my buddy like to build 327's just to be different, but most people who build smallblocks tend to stick with the 350. so, other than the blower, whats it got done to it. i see the long tubes, and i am guessing since it has the tall valve covers it has roller rockers. Internals?

I have a 69 Plymouth Barracuda 340 sitting in the garage ... fastback car .

Used to have a 69 Chevy Nova ProStreet with a 454 in it

And before that it was a 69 Pontiac GTO

I guess it all depends on who you talk to about Muscle Cars . Personally I think a Porsche Carrera(?) GT is a muscle car since it'll probably smoke most American muscle right out of the factory.

My uncle had the exact same car . He gutted it and put a cage in it with a very worked 454 . He ran low 10's in the 1/4 mile .

He then had the bright idea that he was going to move the motor back 13 inches and tub it out . He started the work and then it sat for 4 years . He sold it 2 years ago for $500 . Total waste of a nice car .

The guy that bought it from him , turned around and sold it for $3500 . :ermm:

Ya. I think that muscle cars are the best thing that was ever started. And I personally consider cars in the 60's and early 70's to be muscle cars. New ones r just plastic, computerized sports cars. Muscle cars mightt not accelerate or take 90 degree corners like a ferrari but they are just so damn cool. I'm a mopar freak but i have lots of respect for chevy cars and pontiac or ford back in the day. But theres just something about the body lines of lets say a 69 charger that makes me go nuts. And they look, and sound cooler when your melting the rear tires up the road. I can't wait til my road runner is registered so I could show those kids with their Japanese go carts, what kind of cars America used to make. Especially sense my car has a healthy big block with headers and cherry bomb exhaust thats going to be switched cus its too dam loud and cops would here me in another town when i get on it. Also I cant wait till dodge starts making the new challengers. My uncle said he's placeing an order for one as soon as he could. Theres nothing like a hemi car and im sure that every one, no matter what kind of cars they get into, will think the same thing. Also, me and my dad got the charger firstlast summer, and my plans were to restore it back cus everything was there on the car, but it was rotted out pretty badly and I just bit off a lot more than i can chew with the project so my dads gonna tub it out and put a nasty 383 that he had from his 69 dodge coronet R/T. And the runner will be an everyday car that still hauls @$$ when you want it too while putting those rear tires through hell. lol.

John Pennella
10-31-2006, 08:10 PM
Hey raptor68, sounds like you have a sweet MOPAR. How did you feel when they demolished the 70 charger in that gay @$$ movie fast and furious. I want to shoot whose ever idea that was. I hate movies that have to get a reall nice muscle car in perfect condition, and literaly kill it. It pisses me off so bad. ehh i better not get going.

My car isn't from the 60's or 70's but it's still American Muscle. Its a 89 Mustang 5.0 GT Hatch with a pretty big list of mods done to it. This car is my baby!

Yeah, it pisses me off to see them destroy nice muscle cars that can't be replaced, especially since they destroyed more than just one to get the shot they were after. Same with the Dukes of Hazzard, but that was before the cars were considered to be collectible. I hate to see it, but it makes my car that much more rare/valuable. Still sucks though. I definitely need to get some pics of it up here soon.

Quad18star
11-01-2006, 07:02 AM
A lot of the muscle cars you see them destroy in movies aren't the actual year they're portrayed to be. Many time they buy cars that are a couple years old but have similar body lines and then add parts ( grills , lights , etc) to make it look like a certain year .

They might have used a true 70 Charger in some scenes of Fast and Furious , but when it came time to destroy the car , they didn't use it , they used a dummy car that was built to look like it .

You can't just go and pick up a 70 Charger off a collector for peanuts ..... and it's not like you can find them laying around everyday .

The Dukes ... well that was another story ... back then they weren't considered valuable , so they destroyed as many as they needed . :ermm:

so do you all have mullets? 6X9 speakers in the back deck? a garter hanging from the rear view with some Billy Squire blasting?

Mullet cars are the worst.

Last year I went to Denco and picked up some 2x3x.188 wall tube and two months ago I drove her out of the garage. 1925 Ford roadster pickup, hemi powered, with all the stuff. Lots of midnight workhours, bartering for parts but she is finally done. Slicks, TH350, shift kit 3500, stall converter, 3:56 rearend (it's light enough that anymore would have been overkill.)

Not really the true deffinition of muscle car, but it is American muscle. My 86 Buick Regal. Right now it just has a 307 with a cam, holly 650 4 barrel, exaust, and a turbo 350 trans. Here's what I'm going to be doing to it over the next couple years. I'm starting with a pretty well built 383 stroker, replace the floor pans, and tub it. I'm probably going with a ladder bar rear end, I was told I can't put in a parallel 4 link, and still keep the back seat. I still want the car functional as a semi-daily driver. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the rear end or trans yet. Then I will be putting in a roll cage, 4 point harness. I'm keeping the whole interior stock, minus the radio. Then the last step for the project will be a custom twin turbo set up.

I can apologize when I should. Sorry for the MULLET comment. Whwn I was in highschool the guys driving the camaros and chevelles had brian bozworth haircuts and rolled thier jeans into the tight knot and wore Oakley Blades. Hence Mullet cars for Mullet guys.

But dont get pissy. I have owned 4 65-66 Chevelles (one that ran 10s at this elevation with a 496 and 200 horse worth of juice. She was caged and tubbed with fiberglass everything they made. I have had to many camaros to count and built one 71 that ran 170 mph at the silver state race in nevada. My last one was a 1999 WS-6 Trans-Am that ate vettes alive (extrudahoned, 58mm throttle body, geared, headers back etc. I am alot newer to quads then cars.

O crap I never thought of that. U could cruise around in an el camino and bring the quad along in case u fell like getting muddy. Not bad.

Dad has an all original numbers matchin 69 z/28 camaro. He's had it since 1975, restored it in 1995. Not a trailer queen, we drive it all the time.

Ya chevelles are sweet. 518 horses sounds like just the right amount of power too especially with a 4 spd. Your dads car sounds awesome too, the fact that he owned it sense it was 6 years old is reall cool. What color r u painting the SS?

I own a '70 Vette Lt1. It's had a complete frame off restoration and has 100% matching numbers. Hemmings Motor News came out two weeks ago to do a photo shoot for it. They want to feature it in either the Jan or Feb issue. :)

I dunno yet, thinking about black with white stripes, red with black stripes, or red with white stripes.

All 3 are awesome color combs to me, just not positive on which one I want right now.

Here is my good friends two Hemi 71 Cuda's. Unfortunately they are clones but even these clones are worth around $250K each! Nothing beats the E body cars, especially the Cuda's. Anyone see this years Barrett Jackson's auction this past January? If you did you probably saw an all original '70 Hemi Cuda go for $2.6 million dollars!! The E body cars are the most sought after muscle cars, nothing else compares!

The barret jacksen auctions are a nothing but a big scam. It serves no purpose but to raise the value of cars. Most of the cars that you will see "sell" don't really.

I agree . I've been to a couple of their auctions and the prices are totally out of whack .

In fact , the market for classic cars peaked about 5 years ago , and now it's on a downslide .

All the Barret Jackson auctions do , is make people with rusted out beyong restore cars , think they're worth $25 000 .

i was at fall carlisle in october and there was lots of cars for sale, but not many was selling. most people was just sitting there waiting for somebody to look at their cars they had for sale. i am sure that all of them was not barrett jackson quality, but some might be close, didnt look at them real close. i am sure you could have got a few nice one's cheap.

Ya i heard about that 2.6 million dollar cuda. Its rediculous but one look at how efin sweet a hemi cuda is, u'll under stand why the owner wants soo much. I would hate to be someone that had a big block 4 spd cuda when they came out, then sold it a couple years after to some kid for like 1000 buks, then tune into speed and see car that you used to have going for millions. I'm sure that things like this happen every time the auction is on. Thanks a lot for posting those pics, that made my night. LOL Shake ur friends hand for me for having a couple of very cool mopars. The black, blown one especially. Same goes for Kyle TQRA, very very nice cars man. Gotta love a big block with 6 pack. Awesome.
