Anyone ever done this swap? How difficult is it? I have all the stuff, just wondering if it would be worth the time. The 250R stuff I have is all aftermarket, whereas the 450R stuff is all stock (and frame is trashed), else I wouldn't even consider it.

If you just wanted a cool hybrid, it would be a really dumb project. But I can see the reason you are considering it, if you have a 450r motor with a trashed frame, and a tricked-out 250r frame with a trashed motor.

I still don't think it's going to work out. The 450r motor is much taller than the 250r motor, I really think you're going to run into clearance issues, I don't think you'll be able to stuff that motor under the tank.

if you have the motor and frame take your 250r motor out and stick that back swingarm bolt throught the 450 motor and see for your self if it'll fit you could find alot more info on this in the hybrid board

I raced a guy a few years ago that stuffed a CRF 450R motor in his stock framed 250R. It will work. Why not sell the R stuff and buy new stuff for the TRX.

Selling the 250R stuff would of course be a possibility. I was mainly wondering how difficult a project it would be. I know people put CRF450 engines in the 250r frame, figured the TRX450 couldn't be all that much more of a challenge. I would then part out the leftover stuff from the 450R, what there is of it.

I'll check the hybrid forums. Thanks for your responses.

if you reallt want to do this, you can buy a lsr frame with mounts for a crf450r motor, that will set you up perfect, use the 450r motor and the rest of the 250r parts.

My buddies LSR frame with a crf motor. He had a super trick 250r, but then trashed the frame, So he took on this project and put all his 250r parts on the LSR frame...
