Ive got the 440 kit in my ex. Its got awesome power and accel. I have the stage 2 hotcam, 12.5-1 wiseco, ported head, full exhaust, rev box and uni filter, also got the edelbrock carb and stock sprokets. I was wonder if anyone has found out the top end speed!?? I just ride mine on the mx trackand havnt really topped it out yet. If u know the top speed of ur quad just repost ur mods and speed.

the top speed would be the same as on a stock ex. The top speed depends on the gears and sprocket and if those are stock, so is your top speed.

it should be more than what a stock ex tops out at. that motor will have more power and will be able to pull higher rpms, thus, yielding a higher top speed. that is unless you hit your rev limiter on a stock 400ex topped out and you do it here as well. it is so hard to determine what your top speed really is. i have seen radar detectors vary a lot and it will depend on what tires you run, what terrain you are on, etc.

The easiest and most accurate imo is to carry a personal GPS unit. I have used this in my car, my street bike and my quad.

It was spot on in my car from 0 - 145mph (when comparing to my cars speedo) and very close (probably more accurate) when I was on my street bike. The street bike began to vary more and more once I hit 125+.

So to somewhat answer your original question, the fastest I could get my 400EX to go was 62.6 mph. My mods are listed in my sig (airfilter only as far as performance goes).

Hope this helps.

A pipe and an air filter wont make your quad faster, most likely it will actually make it slower but much quicker...

Why would adding a pipe (given it isn't junk) and a filter make the quad slower?

i yhink its because you get the extra accel and most the time more accel=less top speed

Umm.. no. Adding a pipe, well most pipes, will only increase power throughout the powerband. Consering that nothing else as far as gearing, rev box, ect. was changed, I don't see how it could effect topend in any manner, especially not decrease it.
