What kind of airbox/filter set ups are all of ya'll running? The way it is done on my CRF is a little too rigged up for my liking and I'm trying to get ideas. Anybody have any experience with the K&K aluminum airboxes? I was talking to a guy that used to have one on a LSR/CRF and he said it worked well with the no-link rear end. Here's the only pic he could find of it.

I talked to another guy that had a LSR/YZ hybrid and here's the setup he had.

He said it was a radiator hose off of a backhoe, and a YFZ airbox eliminator kit from ESR. I like the looks of this but, 1) will this be any better than just getting a filter that clamps on the back of the carb? and 2) I don't really want to use a K&N filter, I'd like to stick to foam.

The way mine is now, it has a short metal tube with a rubber clamp that clamps to the carb. The metal tube comes to about even with the rear shock, then it has a LT500 air boot connecting the metal tube to the 250R air box. All of this doesn't really fit together that well and it's a pain in the butt to take off and put back on. I will try to get a pic or 2 of it tomorrow, it's dark out and there isn't enough light in the garage for me to get a picture now.

Here is the one on my CRF250. Custom aluminum megaphone tube, some radiator hose and a 400ex stock air box I modified.

outacontrol- That looks something like I need. What kind of aribox and air filter are you running? I was thinking about trying to make an airbox our of aluminum or stainless steel, and then going to an exhaust shop and have them bend me some tubing to go from the box to the carb.

its a 250r box, the only mod to it was having to cut out a small piece on the bottom of the box where the chain could hit it when the shock compresses. The tube was handmade by mark baldwin and it allows me to use any 250r filter. hope this helps some, i can take better pics if you need me to

Yeah, if it's not too much trouble I'd like to see some more pictures. Do you know if Mark Baldwin still makes those tubes?

Well, I've really been trying to find a solution to this the last few days. I made an airbox out of cardboard last night just to get an idea of how hard it would be and what would work, what would need to be changed and that kind of thing. I think it could be done, but I figured it would be easier just to buy one if I could find something that would work. So, I called K&K about it today. They said they didn't have any of the airboxes in stock but they could get them. The guy I talked to told me he had a LSR/CRF with a no link rear end and this is what he was running. He said it worked well and was about as clean of a setup as there is. I'll probably order one when I get some more money. When I get it, I'm gonna go by a local exhaust shop and see if they can make me a tube to go from the box to the carb. I went by the shop and talked to a fabricator at work and he said they should be able to, they do stuff similar to that for them all the time. So, maybe I'll be able to get them to make a tube that reduces from the size of the filter flange down to the size of the backside of the carb that will clear the shock. I kinda know the main installer at one exhaust shop so I might be able to talk him into something. I might try to call Baldwin or Walsh and see if they still make these or have any laying around.

I know the guy that bought the last LSR/CRF hybrid Keith Little rode before they went to production rules. We have a race this weekend, if he's there I'm gonna make a point to go talk to him and try to get some information from him.

Any other ideas, opinions, or suggestions?
