The other day I was playing with my micrometer and I measured the thickness of my rear brake rotor to see how much my rotor was wearing down. Now to my question, has anyone measured the rotor besides me? cus when i did i came up with .126 inches and according to that reading and after a little math it came to 3.2mm, now it says on the rotor the mininum runout is 3.5 so is my rotor to thin to run, the brake still runs great and stuff but i was just wondering.

Sorry for the long post.

The 3.5mm measurement is for the thickness of the metal not the 'run out'. I'd remeasure is several places then double check the math. If it still comes out to under 3.5mm then technically it is worn beyond spec and should be replaced.

I believe 'run out' is a difference of measurement between two points or something like that:p warpage is an example. Someone else can probably explain better and more accurately:chinese:

I looked in my manual and it said use a dial indicator for runout not thickness.
