Run without a case saver is the obvious answer. The only to scenarios possible are that you buy a new side case and you can run the saver. Or you run without the case saver and maybe a year or two years down the road you throw a chain a the chain breaks the case and you need to buy a new one and you can run the case saver again. In both circumstances you buy a new case and run the case saver in the end but in the second of the two you get to use the one you have for a little bit longer. I had that happen also and I've had my chain come of without the saver and it never touched the case.

how did ur chain fall, off? did it break? lack of lube? lack of cleaning? or lack of adjustment. pick your choice?

Horrible rear sprocket... so it was kindof my problem, dont think i can tap new threads. I think ill just run without it when i get a new sprocket and chain, chain didnt break by the way.

your bad...........but you post "pos honda"?

fill the hole with jb weld, then dip the bolt in oil (it helps release the bolt from the jb weld)
or you can just fill the hole with jb weld then after its hard, drill and tap it.

i think 450rjam has the best answer.if u do run with no saver make sure your chain is always at the right adjustment,or it will come off and really do so major damage

Get a set of easy outs. They work great. You drill a hole in the middle of the broken bolt and then use the easy out to remove the broken bolt. They tighten up as you turn them in, like a reverse thread bolt, it will grab the broken bolt and you just screw it out.

wow the same thing happened to my buddy at the fairgrounds race this weekend.. it wasnt his fault.. the stock case saver is horrible and the dealer said "its not a deffect, its a high performance motor everything is light weight on it" why have a ****ty case saver for a high performance motor? the stock case saver didnt do the job like it is supposed to but owell we got a aftermarket one and a little bit of jb weld on the way :)

do not run without a case saver.. thats just retarded and asking for trouble.. try asking for opinions on how to make something work without spending alot of money though

easy outs work great but it looks like he got the bolt out already.

I think he is trying to repair/patch it up so he can still run the case saver.

sorry my bad, I thought he was just trying to get the broken bolt out. To repair it, either bring it to a machine shop and have them weld on a new bung or drill it and install a heli-coil. Easy for me to say, mine has been fine so far!!

I love how people post stuff like pos honda. All bikes have problems one time or another. Just cause you had a problem doesnt mean the bike is a pos. If you think that then go buy another brand. ga'bage!

my dirty s.o.b. owner cant take his finger out of his arse long enough to do 10 seconds worth of maint.
he leaves me muddy/ my filter hasnt been cleaned in 2 months
and my oil looks like crude.

ok thats just a guess but you get the pic.

Excuse me I better take that back. I apologize.

Let me re-phrase......if you lube that chain every race, that has got to be THE WORST MAINTENANCE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!

If I had a chain that looked that bad I would throw it in the trash ,without hesitation!!!

same thing happened to BOTH of my 06ER's, i think it is a major problem but is just started happening so Honda hasn't noticed it as a problem and won't do anything about it yet

hapened to my 04 motor just a cupple weeks ago. I hit a rock with the rear sproket and the chain poped off. Dident bend the rear sprocket tho, must have hit it just right.

Worst part is that I lost my 30$ case saver.

With every post, your making yourself sound, more and more, like a real winner.

Ever heard the saying, "Better to remain silent and smart then to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

You just removed all doubt.

im sure thats rust look is most of the mud we raced in that weekend.. and he does lube is chain because when ever he does i lube it because more then likely when i am riding he is.. the race was muddy so thats obviously why it looks like that.. i know this because i can go right outside and look at it. :)

rotflmao @ the 3 years between races/lube jobs

thats funny, I dont care who you are.

it does look like it may have been lubed this year, (you can see where it looks extra muddy, I think it may be lube splatter)

the lube is only one factor, the front sprocket looks ok but he said the back was cashed out.

hard to believe someone with such a keen eye for maint. would run a bad rear sprocket.

there is also the chain tension...................
