how much faster are the 450r's compared to the 400's? and is it possible or is it worth it to make a 400 faster then a 450r?

if you got the money are have the ability to do a crazy hybrid but i dont think its worth it too make a 400 faster when it be cheaper to do the same to the 450 and itll be even faster. the 450s take off faster and beat you by sum like around 5 lengths or so

They are faster by alot. A 450r with just an HRC kit will destroy a heavily modified EX in a drag, and they have quite a bit more on the top. My 05, which is slower on the top than the 06 models, will walk away from my EX after half throttle in fifth... that is enough to still ride away on a wheelie.

Is it possible to make it faster than some 450s? Sure! Is it worth it? Not really.

The 450R is MUCH faster out of the box. Of course its possible to make a 400 faster than a stock 450R, but by the time you dump the amount of money required to do it you could have EASILY picked up a 450R.

Is it possible, yes, my 400ex is a prime example of that.

Was it worth it, IMO, yes. If you're looking to race, or looking for the fastest machine around, buy a 450.

My quad walks away from my buddies O5R w/full exhaust, filter, 12 tooth, opened up air box and jetted. I pull away w/ every shift and have a better top speed. Doesn't matter if it's dirt or sand, the results are the same.

I'm still running the stock carb and stock gearing.
