Had a guy tell me today, that he has a co-worker with a 05 R that ran 89MPH. The R is running stock gearing and tires with HRC kit and Sparks pipe. He said he checked it with GPS. I called BS! What do you think?????

Although the GPS may have shown 89, he was not going THAT fast. 05s are not very fast on the top, there is no way he could achieve those speeds with what was said.

Well, it depends on what you would consider that much faster, but from my experiences, yes. As far as topend (especially), the difference is quite noticable!

I thought the 04/05 had a little more on the high side (due to the 14 front sprocket)
the 06/07 is quicker to top speed though.

Nah, the older models are actually slower. They don't rev near as high. I don't know about gear ratios internally, but that may take into effect as well. With stock gearing on both the 06 still pulls on my 05; both running 13t fronts, the 05 gets eaten alive.

2006 450ER
hrc kit with head pipe
Carb work
k&n,
lrd pipe slip on
13 tooth front
36 tooth back
sand devel rear 20s

and i just talked to my dealer and they said the hrc for 06-07 450s it will gain 11-15 more hp

I got 73.8 on gps (its perfect when I run with it in the truck)

06 w/ hrc.........(turns +1000rpm)
I may have been able to pull another tenth if I held it longer but thats about all it had.
on the road it didnt feel like I was going super fast but I have hit 5th about topped out on a long straight and it felt like I was going break the sound barrier lol.

(running stock gears, and tires) feels like honda got the gearing about perfect for my riding style.

There is nothing wrong with his bike Flodies. I have a 14 tooth front along with my listed mods 20" tires cut green wire and run 79.8 mph at the strip.

that or im not exagerating like most lol.

I have hit top end maybe 4 or 5 times, I dont have too many places long enough to get there (I dont ride roads @ wot, I dont need to piss everyone off around here lol)

on the long straight you have to slide 3rd hard to get tapped out in 5th by the next corner

Im pretty sure nothings wrong with the quad, It runs hard and pulls like a (*&%$@*). cant wait till I get the Dasa in.

had mine caught on police radar on rural highway at 90.(the cop agreed to do the test, so no problems there) mines an 05 with a pulse charger, hc stageII, and a K&N.

any idears as to what gearing a stock 04 motor will pull. I'm going ot be running my quad on the ice this winter and want to see how fast I can get it going.

Im a 180lb rider, but I have a budie that I can have run it. He weighs all of about 100lbs soaking wet.

no idea at all but I would like to hear the results when its all said and done.

there is a post somewhere in here that has a quad with gear changes and the speed it reached each time.
