Its not the nicest but it's mine!

This is when I got back from the recent trip from the dunes so the headlight, stock hood, and taillight are still on there.

I will have updates with a racing hood and hopefully a graphics kit soon!

May have updates of soon too with Maier Neon Yellow plastics and rear HiPers also!

nice bike, i really like the white/blue color scheme, i think thats what im going for

Chino886
10-28-2006, 12:49 PM
I am not a big fan of blue, but since the QT seat is blue and it was on there when I bought and I don't want to for out more cash for seat cover that is in good shape.

I will be switching it all over to white/red in the future!

Thanks for the compliments!

I forgot to add, it is an 06 450ER converted to kicker only! I did not do it myself but it works good! Probably even better once I get the valves/decompressor adjusted properly! LOL!

The pipe I have is for the 06, I don't think the 04/05 pipe will work because of the changes on the 06.

one of the next things that I will be buying is the rear grab bar, I hate the one I have now. The pipe is probably putting out about 100+ dbs right now. I plan to get the SuperTrap endcap and disc system in the future.

Thanks Jay!

I have been working hard doing a little bit at a time!

I really need to get up there and ride, I think it would be a great time.

I took it out on the track on Sunday and it scared the crapola out of me, it is a different beast compared to the 400EX!

Yup, I can pull my explorer in under it.....LOL!

I am thinking of building a lift with a winch system to enable me to lift it up on a platform in the back of the garage......still working out the details on that one.

Yea I can imagine that the 450R is quite a different feel than the ex. I'm still trying to get used to my yfz, and now that i've been riding the yami while the honda has been apart, i'm sure it will be hard to get back into the groove with the R.

Get some guys together and come up here and make a weekend out of it.. I'll have a new track layout here for ya when you come up... Heck if you draw it up, i'll build it..Thats how much i want you guys to come up and ride!!! :p

Dave,

I'm probably not going to build the 06, Unless i get rid of the YFZ, cuz to me another quad would be worthless, since I barely have 45 mins of riding on the yfz and have had it for 6 months..haha..

What are you looking to do to your R yet, since you said you hope to have it complete by Feb 07'?? I'm anxious to see what it looks like.. ~Jay

Chino886
11-15-2006, 07:48 AM
Well, the front end may change, along with some color changes as well! I have some yellow fenders on the way!

Maybe blue rings on the hipers all around.

I am still taking it one step at a time!

Maybe strip the frame down and have my buddy paint it for me.....

I don't know, what do you think I should do?

xsr_racing28c
11-15-2006, 08:07 AM
I really do actually like the way it looks as it is, but obviously its always cool to change it up a little bit.

I would go with some pc or paint on the frame just to break it up a little bit and you may as well get a gusset kit installed while your striping the frame, cuz its just cheap insurance.

If you go with yellow plastics, i would definatley get rid of the red on the bike and go with blue. I have some front hiper blue rings here i'll send to you if you'd like.

Other than that, I'd just go Long Travel for sure, and by then you'll have everything you need. Oh yea and rear hipers would be killer!!!

~Jay

Chino886
11-15-2006, 08:11 AM
Yeah, that is what I was thinking!

I might take you up on a trade maybe on rings if you are interested in Red.

You mean rear HiPers like these? LOL! I just don't want to wear down the good MXR6s just putting/practicing!

Well, custom a-arms are now in the process of being built and I purchased some PEP LT shocks!

Will update as soon as I get everything!

Other little things will be going on at this time too (i.e. clutch perch/lever, new brake lever, sprocket change, bar change [from T2s to Pro Taper], and hopefully rear hipers will be going on).

No, no, no, I still have the champions on, have not taken them off or the hubs yet.

I hope the PEPs are all that they are cracked up to be, I think I have figured out that they are the PEP Quadrate ZPS 8 Click Rezzie.

do you have trouble with yours starting in the cold?? i tried to start mine yesterday(was gonna tear up the snow packed street) and it didn't even try to fire. tried with the choke on, off, gave it a little gas before starting and didn't even act like it was going to start. i guess i need to pull the plug on it today and see what is up. i probably better put the charger on the battery too. its probably down a little from yesterday too.

Nope, not as long as my legs if up to the challenge....:p

I have a converted kicker! Its not running at the moment, I changed 3 things and now she is being stubborn. Might work on it today or tomorrow, depending on how cold the garage is.

I tip of advice I learned from the 400EX, find out how many Cold Cranking Amps that POS battery has and try to find a battery that is the same size, but has more CCAs. That might help!

Oh, and don't ever give it gas while it is starting........I have heard bad things can happen.........never experienced it, but I know it can cause "kickback".

mrnate400ex
12-02-2006, 07:50 AM
yeah, i know about the no gas when trying to start. i give it a pump before i hit the starter. i'll have to check into one of those batteries. seems wierd that it didn't even try to fire, but that's part of the fun i guess. working on them!!!!

yup, everything was checked and double checked. i even topped it off with gas thinking it may have been low. checked to make sure the gas was on. i don't have a tether on it yet, but i flipped the stock switch back and forth to the "on" position. i dunno, i'm sure i will get it going today!!!

You said it looks!

What's the purpose of Adapt Graphic as in your signature?

Finally, I would like to thank V2 Products for building my arms to match the shocks I already had. The quality is great and the welds look great!

Here is a list of changes I went to:

Hipers, front and rear
MXR6s in the rear
Modified subrame that removed the battery box of ER sub
BRM Offroad numbers
From Tag2 bars to Pro Taper
Went from HCII to 04 CRF cam
Removed color off of valve cover
Removed big bulky grab bar

Still to come:

Powdercoat swingarm and a-arms
New front tires
Houser +2 stem to be installed
WER Stabilizer intall
new front brake lines
PCed front shock springs
GT Thunder rear re-valve and MX link

Hey Flodies,

You are correct, it is a stock swingarm, after owning a Roll Design swingarm on my 400EX, I can't justify spending that on another swinger. Plus, I don't see the benefits of a aftermarket swingarm, I am talking about suspension benefits. Sure it may look nice and be beefier, I will be able to get the same travel and leverage and progression after I have my rear shock and link. I currently have a rear shock and link now and I think it works great!

Hey Chino Which cam do you like better? And where do you notice the difference between the two? Are you selling the Hotcam?

dang it Chino!!! I would have traded you my valve cover for your blue one!!!!! My brother was just down here this weekend and i could have had him switch them out!!! Oh well, I'm gonna have Pappy do mine with my springs. I'm about tired of this snow!!! Once it warms up, we'll have to get together for a ride!!! Are you guys going down to the sand dunes for snake hunt??

ATVKID-I have not ridden with the CRF cam yet, but I think for my riding style, I will like the CRF cam better. It might be for sale soon, I will be riding this weekend.

MrNate-the guy I bought the quad from just painted it, so I stripped it with paint stripper. I will not be attending SnakeHunt, but my brother and the whole crew from Paola that we go with will be down there. I am tire of this snow for sure, I am ready to ride, we will have to hook up for sure!

Well you know how much i hate white frames..:D .. I'd go with white Dave. Looking at your machine makes me wanna throw my white's back on.

A translucent blue wouldn't look bad either, unless you want to stay with red, yellow, and white.

White and black would look awesome I think, but lately I have seen lots of white frames. I could go black frame and then put my yellow plastics on!
