I prefer race cut fenders so I can better see the front tires. It also looks great if done properly. Use the search to find methods to cut the fenders.

If you ride in mud, front fenders can be nice to keep mud off you and the quad. Cut fenders don't provide much protection.

As for resale, it is buyer specific. It doesn't bother me if a used quad has race cut fenders. I can see that it may affect other buyers. Might want to buy some used fenders off ebay to cut and keep yours for a future buyer. Or, you could buy some aftermarket fenders that are pre-cut. Then you don't have to worry about screwing up.

Just my $.02.

I LOVE EM'... makes it go from stock to "race ready" and if done properly will add up to 5hp.. lol.... Just GO FOR IT...

I mark the line i want to cut w/ a sharpie marker, then i simply get a dremel tool w/ a circular cut bit and steadily cut along the line... then get some rough samd paper and smooth it up, then get a finer sand paper to smooth it out... presto!!!! +5 horsies!!!:D :D :D :D

I had full fenders then bought race cut from maier, and I must say I love the cut fenders. I don't really get more mud on me from the race fenders, and I prefer the looks better.

my cousin cut his fenders and i actually get less mud and water on me now, then when they were full fenders :huh

i love the look of cut fenders, and i have been told that it is easier to hold a wheelie with cut fenders cuz of less wind or womething like that

Yea i have not done it but i can't see you getting much more mud on you then the stockers! Those things are horrible, i cant stay dry even if i attempt to avoid the mud, but i dont see any benefits to having them cut. Except for the "coolness" factor, which should be taken into consideration....

I must just be a dirty rider. I ride with a friend that has a 400ex with stock front fenders. When we ride together I am always muddier than he is. I just assumed it was because my fenders were cut and his weren't. Just think how muddy I would be if my fenders weren't cut.

cut them if you dont go through mud and stuff, but if you go through alot dont cut them. you get alot more dirty

does anybody happen to have a pic of the new body style 400ex (05+) with the fenders cut? Also, with the fenders cut, how much do you really get, is it just like mud on the forearms and stuff, or.... all over the place. I don't do much riding in the mud, just in some of the trails there are little sections of mud/water.

Well since everyone else is saying how great race cut fenders are, Ill play devils advocate. Personally, I think the 400ex looks just fine with its fenders, and I would never cut mine. I had a Blaster back in the day and I thought itd be cool to cut the fenders...from that point on I was always covered in mud and cleaning off my goggles. Fenders are there for a reason, and if you arent racing on a track or something, I think youd be better off keeping them on.

i just use a marker a make a line then use a jig saw to cut it. then use sand paper to smooth out the edges. i do get more muddy but just when im behind a buddy on a dirtbike or sumthing that kicks up alot

a little bit of electrical tape to mark the lines and a dremel tool and voila!
