Just stumbled across this easy way to resize pictures. I've already found it useful for resizing to host on forums, or to send via email.

It is a Microsoft Powertoys for windows xp.

All you gotta do is download the program, install it, then when you have a picture that you want to resize all you have to do is right click on the image. On the pop up screen there is an option for "resize pictures". Click that and a screen will pop up asking what size you want to make it. There are several predetermined sizes, to go to , but there is also an advanced setting that lets you make a custom size.

Also you don't have to worry about losing the original. The program uses the original file name but adds on a suffix to the end.

Don't know how useful you all will find it but so far it is better than having to open up a program to resize a pic.
