If you havent had tranny problems yet theres a good chance you will. The shifter pin inside on the case breaks off and the shifter stays down preventing you from down shifting. It happened to mine within 6 months. For 150 buck there is a shifter pin relocator part you should install before or after this happens. It took me 1 and a half hours to put it in. It comes with instructions. The company that sells it is BCS performance 1-413-348-9033. I installed mine yesterday and the quad is good as new.

Yeah I have mine. I put it in like a month and half ago. It was real easy to install. It took me a lil longer to do mine as I inspected my clutch plates and other lil things. I never really slammed my shifter before having it but now I feel relieved about it not possibly breaking if I accidentally land on the shifter.

Thanks BCS.

its this part a 100% fix, or does it still have a chance of braking?

Hey 1QKBRD you should still install the part!!! And it looks to be a 100% fix its a very strong thick part. You can tell by lookin at it and the way it works.

Is this fixed on the 07's? Or do they need it too?

The new cases seem to be coming out beefed up in the area that the breakage is occurring. I'll be installing on on mine anyway. There's a guy on eBay that sells them for $100. Word from Yoshimura is that Hinson supplies the race team with theirs.

Yeah I don't know about the others but the BCS bracket can be used whether the case is broke or not.

Actually I stand corrected. The person I was referring to must have been BCS and at one time he had them on eBay and I thought they were $100. I may be mistaken though. I just called Hinson and they only supply these to the race team.

Looks like I'll be buying mine from BCS! :)

You'll have great luck with BCS Perf. Al. They know their stuff pretty well but they just aren't that well known. If/when you call them you'll pry talk to Jake, atleast thats who I spoke to.

good luck!

Jay from BCS is a good guy. They do a TON of motor work for a lot of the guys who run NEATV-MX and I havent heard a bad thing about them . Tell Jay that Jason from NEATV-MX sent you his way .

i dont see what the problem is with the tranny and the shifting, my cousin landed on his shifter over a 90 ft triple and the only thing that broke was the shifter it self nothing else is this what your talking about or is it internal, just finding out what i got myself into buying an 06

Don't be too worried about it if you don't ride aggressive or hard motocross. I had my LTR450 since Feb. and I had no problems what-so-ever. I didn't put the bracket in till September I believe. And if you got a late '06 I think they have the beefier upgraded case anyways. I could be wrong though.

Have fun
