my bike was blowing smoke, replaced the seals still did it. it turns out my cylinder was a circle, it was an oval. so the guy qouted me around 500$, to basically bore it out a little more.
140-piston kit
70-machine
40-gaskets
250-labor(65$) an hour.

The labor part seems a little too much. I got my 440Kit installed, all in all the labor was only $149. Took about half a day from when I dropped off the bike to when I picked it up!

how hard are these 400ex motors to work on? i have never opened mine up.

I think they are real easy, especially when you have this forum to answer all your questions.

I'm sure if you do a search, there is a walk-thru somewhere.
