best cam?

I am getting a new cam and piston soon and was wondering if i should get a high end or mid cam. I have a low/mid pipe. would getting a high end cam ruin my trail riding? i definatley don't want to do that. but i ride probobly 75% at the dunes.
any suggestions would be appriciated
