i friggen love this truck! so much i gave up my ktm for it!

its a 98 explorer with only 21k miles, leather, 4x4, electric heated seats, alpine head unit

we knew the people who owned it, it was always kept in a heated warehouse, and only used for travel trips

hoping for some LT suspension, supercharger, a nice sound system, and a new color before making my move to Ca this upcoming summer.

If you want a pre-runner keep the explorer how it is and buy a old ranger and make that a prerunner

just a personal opingion, why buy such a nice fully loaded unit you know has been very well maintained to chop it up and make that, wouldnt you be better off to buy something a little more beat and a little cheaper, seeings how to get something like that black explorer your basically going to have to tear the whole truck apart.....and the electric and heated seat arent gunna help ya much on the dunes, but are something else ot go wrong when your jumping the thing through whoops

just a personal thought, very nice lookin unit though

exactly! cant have fun in the dunes, with noone to share to fun with!

and yes, later on down the road, a cage and fiberwerx fenders will be in store for the beast

i will most likely hold off on the blower, till i have the suspension and wheel/tire setup correct

In that one picture why is there a telephone pole in the top of the second picture. Why does is look photoshopped to me.

Nice truck

Hold off on the motor mods until you get CA tags on it, the smog tests up here are strict. I've installed "street legal" superchargers but I have my doubts as to how well they pass inspection.
Good luck on your move, pretty soon you can soak up some good CA sun, even in the winter:D

hahaha, i never noticed the pole either, maybe it was cluttering the pic or something?

yah, i cant wait to make the move, ive been waiting for a long time to do it, and now we are.

and for the guy who said "why chop up the nice explorer?"

i dont see modding my explorer to do what i love as chopping it up. besides, there will be no junking it out, all the parts put on will be high quality parts from camburg and fiberwerx, its not like there will be any "homemade" stuff going on something that needs to be oundly strong.
any body have any ideas for tires/wheels?

SOA in the rear. SAS in the front. $$$$$ Have a 302? Prepare to throw all of your money in the back of that thing. I have a 01 Expl. Sport, it has drained me, I just got a raptor, my rappy is no where near as needy as that damned Exp.

He's not building a mudder.;) SAS is great where you need flex, mainly rock crawling and ramp queens. IFS does great in the desert. Keep the Spring under rear, get some deaver springs and longer shackles, for the front you need to decide if you're keeping the 4wd (about 10 inches of travel.) There is much much more potential sitting in a 2wd for long travel (17 inches of travel). For a top of line race LT suspension look to spend 15-20,000 dollars. Camburg has some impressive stuff.

That is sweet. If not mudd, what then? Hahaha. With mine, I looked at the options and what I would really be doing with it. I went with carrier (suspension connection) leafs stock +2 and shackles. front I did a tortion twist 3". It looks goog, I have 32's on it. Decent.
