pred vs dirtbike

i cant believe it i raced my dads pred full hmf pipe, jetkit, airfilter and lost to my friends stock honda 230 4stroke dirtbike w/ rev limiter.

i was wonderin if i got one for thr pred if it would beat that dirtbike? i kept hitting the limiter. i had him beat till the very end of the strip

dirt bike are almost always faster, theyre like a hundred lbs lighter and top out well above what any quad can do stock.

yah but i wouldnt think a 230 vs a 500

how far are you racing?, what gearing are you both using?

both using stock gearing and im not sure how far we were going but i i was topped out and hitting the limiter

well if thats the case I would say its youre gearing...did you buy it like used or new?

and if youre going to replace the cdi save up your money and get either a vortek or a dyna. The cheaper ones have a tendency to wear out your one way faster

bought it used at the dealer it was a wreck rebuild

count the teeth on both sprockets....heres a chart on top speed (roughly for the pred). The highlighted one is stock for 03-04's. Another question are you actually hitting the rev limiter or are you jetted to rich

No way. My 03 pred can easily stomp my neighbors crf 230. My pred can beat a 2001 yz 250 in top end.

is it bored b/c mine got beat pretty bad what all is done to ur bike

my bike has a pure polaris pipe, k&n air filter, radiator scoops, rath racing nerfs, otherwise its stock.

dude then somethings up b/c i have all that besides nerfs and a full hmf pipe. either my friends bikes got some major motor work that we dont no about or that guy u raced cant ride.

dude youre too rich! It will make the bike feel like its hitting the rev limiter.

not a chance in hell.. unless the top end is nearly gone or there is something WAY wrong with that bike.


You should be beating a crf230 easily though

The only way the yz would beat me in top end is if he held it wide open for a while and wasnt afraid of blowing it up. Were about the same speed in top end until he lets off, from fear of blowing it up and then I pass him.

gah i dont see how your getting beat i can beat one in a drag with my close to stock 416!!!
