Im looking at getting a jet kit or the full power kit for my 450R. any suggestions on who to get it from? this is the first mod to my R other than the HP kit. is this what i need to be doing or no?

I ordered my jet kit from WPP Racing.

His link is in my signature.

I got 2 different pilot jets, 16 different main jets, and the HRC needle and clip for just over $100.

I decided to buy all the jets I would ever need at one time, that way I would be prepared for anything.

Call Brian @ WPP, he is a great guy.

thanks, how hard is it to install yourself? im not real familuar with doing these kinds of mods. would you suggest doing it yourself or taking it to a shop? how often do you change the jets? whenever the weather changes or the types of riding you do? sorry im kinda illeterate when it comes to this. thanks, Nate

Changing jets is very easy after you do it once. Definitely learn to do it yourself.

Check out http://www.trx450r.org/forum

Do a search for jetting, and you will find tutorials on how to change you main and pilot jets, as well as changing the needle.

You usually change jets when adding intake and exhaust modifications such as air filters, removing the airbox lid, and adding a pipe.

If anything, you jet your bike a little bit richer for colder weather.

Agreed, doing the jets is EZ. Getting the right one is a different story :) -I installed jet/kit from HRC kit. I highly rec. getting a Factory HONDA service manual (bout $50.00/Epay). Invaluable info in there. YOU can do it!

im in the same boat as you nate450r im wanting to lose the airbox and baffle and get an outerwear for the filter and jet myself and save about 60$ (thats the part im lost on) and ill feel like a moron paying 50$ for a book but it might be worth it.

Or, you could just download the manual for FREE :).

This is the 2004/2005 TRX450R Manual. I believe the 2006/2007 TRX450R Manual is a little different.

There is a 04-05 manual, and another with 04-05/06-07 info... (06-07= many differences). If your time is money (mine is), The manual is a must. Even for all the "know-it-alls" out there.

yeah im sure i need the book but dont have the money, so the internet is probably where i will turn. and jetting it myself, if you all say i can do it, is probably what i will do. im sure a shop will charge me an outragous amount for it. i need to learn the bike anyways.
