I made my own spanner wrench for the 400

I like to fabricate things like tools, etc when I have the chance. What do ya think of it? It would probably work on other style shocks.

WOW! Very nice job. You work at a CNC shop?

Thanks,

I'm a CNC operator, mill parts for machine guns. But I actually made this at the house with a few house hold tools. This is what you can make with simple tools like a jigsaw, hand files, and hand drill. I used a center punch thats why the weight reduction holes seem so true.

Put it on an EDM and make the weight reductions holes hex sizes for bolts.

Darn good idea. There is nothing like making a multifunctional tool. While still keeping it compact.

Definately sweet especially for hand tools, I had to make a drill gage with a hack saw, and a file. I also made the wrenches for the axle locknuts the same way.

Hey RIP,

You have any pictures of the wrenches you made? I'd be interested in seeing them.

nice..but you should keep that stuff on the dl. keep it up, get patents on your stuff, you never know. you think the people who invented the paper clip thought they would strike it rich by bending a piece of wire...

I don't have any pics, their nothing special, in fact they look like crap, but work. Just 2 pieces of 3/8" flat steel that I cut and filled to the right dimensions, then welded a "handle"(threaded rod) onto them. I did go to college for CNC and have worked in a shop, but got laid off and currently work in construction. I want my own machines so I can make my own sick stuff, never had time while working.

Awesome craftmanship. Definately should keep it on the dl. Easy to get a patent for stuff like that btw.

It is a cool tool, but what is with the patent talk? Each manufacturer makes or purchases a spanner wrench already for almost every model they sell. In addition, there are a number of aftermarket companies that sell similar spanner wrenches, it's cool but hardly different or revolutionary enough to be granted a patent.

I agree,

There isn't anything really special about it. Other than I made it and thought of its design. I do appreciate the comments though. I wish I had a shop to fabricate things. Speaking of patent's you know those miniature toy skateboards you can buy? The one where you can take the trucks and wheels off. I was making those when I was in 7th grade out of bawsal wood (sp) and the wheels were old matchbox car wheels. That was 20 years ago. Could be sitting pretty if I would have patent it. LOL
