I think the CRF450R cam chain is one extra set of side plates over the stocker.

i dont understand this is the oem cam chain for a crf450r part number

Make: Honda
OEM#: 14401-MEB-671

if you count the plates going across there are 7

4 outter
3 inner

equal 7

count the plates on the picture

I was thinking that the ones I installed had the same number of links across the chain, it was just that the crf chains were a lot thicker links making the chain wider. If you take the valve cover off and put your new chain up next to it you will notice that the crf chain is thicker, should look to be about 2 links wider, but it is really just thicker.

The correct chain that fits the 400EX is from the 2002 CRF450R dirtbike. I've been running mine for about a year now, no issues ;)

I see 9 plates. You're not counting the goggle shapped plates on the outsides?

All years CRF450R (02 and up) use the same chain. The 06 and up TRX450R/ER uses that cam chain too.....14401-MEB-671.
