I have heard of a mod on the viper 90 to give it a little more ummph!

What wire should I clip, and where at. I thought some one said the green wire coming from the cdi, but I don't see a green wire. Any help?

take the cdi out of its rubber pouch, the green wire is on the back of the cdi. it comes out and goes back in, clip it and you have no more rev limiter.

Does this work on the 05 Viper 90r also?

Remove the nose cone and locate the cdi...Pull upwards and it will come off of the metal tab and you can remove the cdi from the rubber pouch....

Here is the cdi pulled out and the famous green wire already snipped...Be careful you don't pull the cdi out too far and disconnect the wires on the back side of it..I did and then had to do some trouble shooting when it wouldn't start.. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f84/frdnut/IMG_2734-1.jpg

I believe the 05 and up versions had some kind of dial adjustment on the side of the cdi so you can turn it up in increments instead of the all or nothing style with the wire.

We have the dial one, does that work on those or do you need to buy an aftermarket one?

on the ones with the dial even all the way up there is a rev limiter in them. there is no way to bypass the rev limiter in these cdi's. you will need the older style with the green wire or one with no rev limiter in it.

Will the older model CDI with the green wire replace the dial version on a 2005? Just plug, clip, and no more rev limit?

as long as you quad does not have reverse it will work. just clip the green wire and rev limiter is gone. i sold a guy one on here a couple of weeks ago.

Bought bike for Christmas for my 6 y.o. and bike is very slow.Sputters alot. I took the throttle screw all the way out and helped alittle. I took the grill off and adjusted the dial fromzero to 3 and bike would not start. Even when I turned back to zero I got nothing. Now what? I pulled the CDI out but not sure what I can do? Anybody know?

FYI. I just clipped the green wire on my 2003 viper. Went for a test ride half way around the block and the bike died. I push it home and trouble shoot, I have juice to plug with screw driver ,but no spark when I ground the plug electrode.. Bad plug.. Replaced plug and this thing screams on the high end now.. I think I will install a switch on the green wire so I can run it in race mode or trail mode. Love this sight. Thanks guys.
