I do it to all pipes. Short pipes look better. Your dbs will probably jump 5-10 dbs.

I never felt a gain in power but it sounds better to me and looks better.

I always cut 5" off.

Do you know how to make a shorty?

Take the core and packing out of the muffler.

Then cut the the muffler (only cut the back of the muffler not front or else the mounting spot will be off.).

Then how ever many inches you cut off your muffler you have to take the same amount of inches off the core to.

Then put it back to gether and you have a shorty.

(optional)
A thing i always did with my pipes was either replace the core with a solid 2" round pipe so it has no holes in it and then you can run no packing and rev a little faster. Or else i would wrap aluminum soda cans around the core and use a couple hose clamps to hold them tight.

thanks slow, that helped me out a ton but when you say but the back of the pipe do you mean the side closer to the header of closer to the endcap?

If you do that then what's the point of using the silencer at all?

that is the same thing i was thinkin....it would be wicked loud. i tried mine without a silencer once and i couldn't even handle the noise at an idle

Really no reason. I just keep the silencer on for looks.

You cut closer to the endcap. If you cut the part closer to the header then it would still work right but the mounting points would be way off thats why you need to cut the part by the end cap.

It got major loud. It was a 50cc and it was louder than my quad. As for power it did get alot better over stock but i probably would have gained more by just buying a aftermarket exhaust. After that i removed the elec starter and from all the extra power and torque the clutch would go out ever 15-30 minuits.
