now that the weather has turned colder my 06 450er is really hard to start. its just that first start of the day, it will start fine the rest of the day. the only mods are no airbox lid, modified stock exhaust, 160 mainjet.

Happened to me today. Was about 40 degrees out.. Set it next to a fire for about 15/20 minutes and then it fired right up... No problems the rest of the day....

I'm in canada and a 45 pilot helps in the colder weather, and if the choke is not enough, then give the throttle a push or two. Not when it is cranking, but before. I have had to push the throttle 5 times and choke to start mine on a very cold day but it works. But becarefull not to flood it. OR you better get out the truck and a rope.

My jetting is 160 main,CRF 06 needle 4th position, 45 pilot. But when it gets real cold,I put my lid back on.(It has two 1.5 inch holes and 14 3/8 holes down the side drilled in it.) This is just enough restrickion to make it not run lean in this cold weather.iF i do not put the lid on it starts harder, and i will get a lean bog. It also keeps the snow out of the airbox.:D MY 2 cents.:D

From what I can tell you, my last 400ex would not start because I had a White Bros Rev Box when it was cold. Ask your dealer, or look on ebay for a 05 or earlier rev box if they are different part numbers and you know the 05 starts correctly. This will save you a lot of hard work kicking your machine!
