do the spark arrester mufflers cut power that much?

just wondering as i have motor mods. wondering if its robbing much power. my mojave had a quiet core and i put in a race core and it really woke up. wonder if the r is the same?anyone go from fmf turbine core 2 to something else ? thanks:macho

i just pulled my turbine core 2 off, after the arrestor got plugged. I put on a sparks silencer, but haven't really had a chance to run it hard yet. I'll let you know when i do.

It restricts the exhaust flow, so it will definately decrease the power.
You will definately feel the difference. Depends on your set-up on how much difference it will make. If you don't really have many mods you probably will not feel a huge difference.

That depends on many factors...

What I've found on R silencers is this:

Fresh packed silencers really do give more power-- or I should say more torque. And so very much quieter. I think the blown out silencer packing does allow the bike to rev out a tad further-- Or, at least sounds like it is!

Going from a shorty, non spark arrested FMF to a FMF Q adds torque to a bigger extent than robbing a little from top end.

No performance difference what-so-ever between a FMF turbinecore vs. powercore. FMF Q is slightly less responsive, but a LOT less sound. Still a healthy 2 stroke sound, though...

The stock silencer is barely quieter than a Q, but it robs horsepower and torque almost as much as the stock header does.

Less sound= more ground. I don't know about you, but I like having local ride areas, and consider them a Privilege...

i have mid-range porting,210 psi comp.,open box,38mm a/s,rad valve,fmf fatty,50/50 110 and 94 amsoil dominator 50:1.,89 cdi box. is this enough mods as it will hold me back ?

I assume you are asking about the turbine silencer you already have. If your silencer is freshly cleaned and re-packed, it ought to be a good match for the rest of your mods. I don't believe it is holding you back.

hey 86250rrider, don't know if your silencer can be modded for this but this kit only cost $21 from Alba. We put it on my gf's plaster pipe because it didn't have a spark arrestor

just checked the muffler and it says isde spark arrester and it has a picture of a pine tree. i guess im riding forest friendly!!its an fmf for sure ..never seen one in a mag or catalog.
