I agree 100%. I was going to get a 450 until I rode the Ltr450. I handled just as good as my 400 but it didn't impress me enough with power. And it would be another 2500 for the suzuki, plus nerfs, kill switch, bars and acouple other things.

If you race it's worth it, but not if you're a rec rider on a tight budget.
Here's my bike, with a bunch of goodies on the way, including hipers:devil:

If it were up to me, I would do the deal in a second. How much is the guy expecting for additional cash?

As for the guy wondering about the difference of a 450, depending on the bike and mods, there is a huge difference. In the end it is personal opinion, I guess.

Well in my opinion it the was the greastest thing i ever did when i got the yfz and left the 400. i put all the motor work in it and it is still nothing like the 450's now the 400's are a good quad but the YFZ is better for me.

Yes, someone bought it for 4,000$ and then fell through. In the meantime I test rode 450s and wasn't impressed enough, so I'm going to take alittle bit of the 450 money and mod my 400.

yfz is all stock......

if i get it im only planning on putting nerfs, skids, bumper, for now rejetting w/ baffle removed is PLENTY of power for the trail until i get some extra cash

btw my 400 is a 2001 what should i expect to get for it
its pretty nice plastic is scratched just like all xc people's
he wants 3700 for it i dont think the guy know what he has but hey w/e
what should i expect to get out of mine if i sell it?

my 400 is going to have to rebuild here in the next year or so also its been 3 years since the rebuild i just think im crazy not to trade up from a 2001 to a 2005 bike

yea dude don't get the 450 because it may have a chit load of more power but you haveto change the oil every ride and clean the air filter which may not seem a big hassle but it will be because you'll be spending more time doing maientenance to the bike than riding it.plus they lock up on you within 2 to 3 years and thats if you do the maientenance regularly.stick wit the ex they're bulletproof.

i dont have a problem changing the oil and cleaning the filter

i change my oil every 2-3 weeks anyway and clean my filter more than that

it doesnt take me long to change my oil either prolly 10-20 minutes depending on if i have my tools out and oil and oil filter ready

i just want something newer the 400 is goin on 6 years old and it needs to be rebuilt

i still think it is better to rebuild the ex...but otherwise i would buy the honda 450...JMO

i think im gonna get the 450 its a better platform for mods it has electric start its a newer bike i think its worth it to move up to a 450 and plus im bored with my 400 :huh

I don't understand why somebody would want to trade down for a 400 :ermm:

I love 400s but they aren't worth any $$$$. Around here, a built one w/ 440, +2s, axle, full suspension won't hardly sell over 3g. Plus why not go w/ a 450. A TON more technology than whats in a 400. A pipe, filter and jetting on a 450 and a mild 400 won't touch it.

Realistically, if you're not too attached to your quad and he didn't want too much boot, u would be retarded not to do it.

im not attached to it ive had good times on it but i think ill be better with the 450 what do you think i should offer him for my quad + cash

it depends on what the 450 has done to it, it not a whole lot then $500-$1000, any more then that and it would not be worth it to me......but it is ultimately your decision.

When I figured it out, I almost broke even on my part out and buying the used 450.

oldskoolex400

its pretty much stock beside a arm guards and holeshot rear tires
i might not trade but instead sell my 400 and buy the 450
what could i expect high/average/low pricing to get out of mine?
would ebay be my best bet?

If you sell it whole, I would say you are going to get offered anywhere from $2500 to $3500, that is what I got offered and I had a very similar bike to yours.

That is why I parted mine!

the local stealership offed me 2300 for it......
if you dont mind me asking PM me with around what you got out of it my parting it i dont want to waste my time takin it apart and not get much more out of it

i am also considering doing a aftermarket part-out putting most of my stock stuff on except for the front a arms and shocks
take it back to them and see what they will give me for it closer to stock

^^^^

I would do what you mentioned above! Parting a bike out may take you months and cause a lot of stress!
