My dog is very aggressive towards me, it bites me, when I go to put her on her line she runs circles around me till I get tangled and fall then she bites the fug out of me.. tonight we have a 5set with railing to get into my house and I was trying to get her inside but my dad started the truck up and she drug me over the railing and I did a flip and landed on a bunch of clay pots :grr:

Is there anything I can do to calm her the hell down...? she's almost 2 years old now I thought she'd loose this chit by now, I'm half tempted to just give her to a friend or a rescue :ermm:

Did you train her/him when it was a pup. I dont know how anybody else trains them but my dad did it by hitting it. Not like animal abuse or to intentionally hurt it but firm enough to let it know whats up. Our dogs were top notch when they were grown. They would always listen and sit or stop when they were comanded too.

Maybe you need to just train it a little more and let it know that you are more dominent.

By the way we had Akitas.

Start with the basics. Even if she knows how to sit on command, re train her rewarding with a treat. When she does bad, scold her but do not yell or hit.

She's a good dog dont get me wrong, she sits, lay's down, prays, shakes does all the little trick's.. When ever she got out of hand I'd tell her NO in a very deep tone of voice and she would stop imediataly and sit down and wait till she got my approval..

But.. The neighbors dog jumped the fence when she was a pup and had her around the neck when she was on her line, and it almost happened again about 4 weeks ago and it seems like ever since then she's turned into the devil, if you try and go near her when shes on her line she'll walk all the way to the other side, lay down then run towards you fullbore once your into the area the chain allows her and bites your arms, legs etc :ermm:

We use to breed dobermans and they are known to be hard headed but this dog is absolutely stubborn anymore..

Man I need help w/ mine too! One of my Boxers always, and I mean always will bark at me while im mowing, weed eating, etc..I usually tie her up and carry on..Well today I was mowing and I didn't tie her up. She was barking as normal at me. Then, some how managed to get her gum thingy suck in the fence, so she whined and finally jerk her mouth out and she bit a hole in her gums! So I doubt that is still going to teach her a lesson but...Why do my dogs, acutally only one, bark at me if im mowing or something??

Just to give you a idea how insane the damn dog is.. I tied her to my banshee and it was in 1st gear, I was washing our truck she pulled the quad out of the fuggin garage 5-6ft till she could get ahold of my pant leg :grr:

Perhaps you need to introduce her to your size ___ (<--insert shoe size here).

Or, the business end of a 12 gauge. Take her out, ol' yeller style...

Do not hit your dog!! ...nice way to bring out more aggressive acts, along with making it "gun shy" or a fear biter.Or lose a limb.
Maybe take some training classes? it is actually alot of fun.
Or get a pinch/prong collar and use it accordingly, but dont leave it on when you are not training. And always reward for good behavior (praise or food).
good luck

I knew that was going to come up....

we have bred close to 30+ dobermans, we've had them since I was little and none of them have ever been hostile or mean they have been loyal and loving.. We didn't breed this dog and she's got a couple issues.. I didnt get her till she was 2-3 months old so I dont have a clue what the breeder did in that time..

It's the owner not the dog.. I had to get stiches from a yellow lab explain that one to me..

In my opinion I wouldn't hit your dog... some dogs it may work, but for the most part it will just make them worse. Ecspecailly since it's pretty dominate breed. First off, I'd start by putting her on a leash and try to have a little fun;) Get some treats and go through her commands, but don't sound like a drill sargent, make it fun for her. Just do the commands she already knows. Is she aggressive to anyone else in your family? You gotta make it feel like you and your whole family is the "pack leader". Don't let her eat until your done eatting, I've heard of people even spitting in there dogs food, so it has your scent in it. When you go outside with her, go through the door first. Different things like that. You should also spend alittle time bonding with her... just brush her for a while, even if she doesn't need it.

Here's my understanding on Doberman's. If raised from a pup, doberman's are EXTREMELY loyal and EXTREMELY protective to there masters. Therefore, making excellent guard dogs. Of course, intimidation factor would be high because they are just bad arse looking dogs.

I've never heard of dobermans used in a context that would best describe pitbulls.

In fact, I considered getting 2 full bred doberman's for my fiance, who's deaf.

oh i agree and i knewwwwwwww you was going to say that, and i was actually suprised someone didnt already bring it up.
i just meant they are usually aggressive. anyhow i believe 100% its all in the training, upbringing.

ive been thinking of breeding alaskan malmutes myself, what do u think ?

Don't breed to earn some quick money... if you really love the breed, have homes lined up for them, then I don't see a problem.

k well i am no dog expert but i got my pup from the SPCA...(canadian humaine scociety) he was extremely hyper and agressive when i got him and they told me he would be a "hard dog to train", and a "danger to children" and dont get me wrong first couple weeks he tore my house down piece by piece......and i will say i dont condone abusing animals but i will tell you my dog didnt respond to anything and i mean anything....one day i grabbed him by the nose...and no i didnt squeeze, but I held him and hit him on the side of his nose and it was the first time he listened.....i've now had him about nine months......he sits and stays on command, when i say "IN" wether we are inside or outside he runs into his kennel and lays down, he isnt in any way scared of me or timid of me and will fight when i ask him too, but does respect me when i am mad, i dont have to even raise my voice anymore, but for hitting your at all being a bad thing i am sorry but it was the only way he learned, i tried everything leash, treats everything and nohting worked....
i know people will dissagree with me but if you had to deal with a dog how went from 6am to 6am with out stopping and bit and barked and could actually move his kennel across the entire house and roll it on its side you would have to do something becides offer him a treat.

to this day he still runs to me when icome home, cuddle with me at night and a child can tackle him to the ground now and he will lick and play........a good dog even with a smack here and there

you need to establish "alfa male" and thats mostly about attitude..

next time the dog tries to drag you, immobilize the dog(force it down by the collar) and let it know your bigger.. you dont have to hurt them, but let them know you could..
if necessary, make them bite their own lip or pinch their ear if they dont get it..

but youve gotta sound angry so they know the difference..

My friends dog is like that, they had some sort of animal specialist come in and they say some dogs get extremely pissed by calling htem just their own name. He also has a food agression also. I know that this dog was tossed around when he was young by the person's other dog who they got it from.

from what i have read, and seen from classes and such, you need to define your self to the dog as the dominant one, one of the easyest ways to do this is by leash training. put him or her on a leash, and make the dog act to your intentions not his. for example if he is walking infront of you and pulling you, yank him back to your side with tention still in the leash untill he sits, and with a affirmative voice say NO or some noise. the dog should walk by your side, stop when you stop, and go where you go. you are also the one who should be stoping, alowing the dog to sniff something, not you stopping because the dog wants to sniff something.

if the dog attacks you and tries to bite you, the key is to not run away, you have to grab the dog by the neck and forcefully put it on it's back untill it stops to struggle, when the dog is calm on its back (probably exhausted at this point) it is showing complete submissivness, and you have established yourself as the dominant one or the "pack leader"

if you have any questions feel free to pm me, i don't feel like typing everything. i have spend a couple hundred bucs on dog training classes

here is my 2 yearold golden retriever Jake, he is one of the best behaved dogs i have ever had
